Could Gore Be The Nominee?
cqpolitics ^ | 3/8/2008 | Taegan Goddard

It's clear that for either Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. Hillary Clinton to win the Democratic presidential nomination, they'll have to win the majority of superdelegates at the convention. But what if the superdelegates split right down the middle like Democrats across the nation?

Talk of a joint ticket -- Obama-Clinton or Clinton-Obama -- might be an elegant solution to the problem. But what if Clinton wins the popular vote and Obama wins the majority of delegates? What if the next two months of campaigning turns so ugly they can't stand each other? Would either candidate willingly step aside to take the number two spot?

The answer might be for someone else entirely to step into the race at the convention. The most likely candidate would be Al Gore. Most Democrats think he was robbed of the presidency in 2000 by the Supreme Court and could be the only one to unite the party.

Gore has only a slightly more remote chance than me.

If it happened, he would have to defend his completely undefendable position on global warming.

If the powers that be anoint Gore, then Obama supports will go ballistic.Republican voters would also unite to defeat that fat windbag.

I’d say that if your organization is so bad off that you need AL GORE as your saviour , then you really are in trouble.

Given that choice, you'd get my vote!

Just thought...

Ousting BHO as the nom by Gore would be a perfect bookend to a family career.

Al Gore, Sr voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

I think the Hillary camp would go to war, too. She hates Gore.

Isn't Gore's stock in the left plummeting? His global warming scam seems to falling apart.

Since an Algore endorsement is akin to the Kiss of Death, making him the nominee would avoid that problem.

The Democrats are not that suicidal. There is an embittered hardcore, who, like Japanese soldiers on a remote Pacific atoll, haven’t got the word that the War is over and they lost. Normal people are just glad the spectacle of November - December 2000 is finally over.

Al Gore is at least 100 pounds above fighting weight. During the Presidential debates W (against all expectations) cleaned the floor with him. Fergettabodit.

I know you guys don’t like her, and I think she has too much power...but you can’t deny the fact that Obama was a second ran until she started stumping for him..it was then and only then was he looked at as the second coming.

The democratic party should remember the groups algore is involved with are being exposed as ‘Money grabbing, drug-dealing, back-stabbing, hypocritical, elitist politicos who will use any type of scare tactic to steal from the poor, while claiming it is to protect the poor.

oh....wait.

I got that wrong.

(who would you save? Algore or the democratic party?)

Since the Dem convention of 2004, a Clinton-Obama ticket has been likely. Obama’s surprising success has done little to change that.

How did GW do that? Gore was supposed to be smarter, he attended but did not finish more Grad programs, invented the internet and knows more about climate than any living scientist. The debates must have been rigged or just maybe, Gore is an F***ing idiot. Bring him on.

Jeez, an Al Gore nomination??? That would piss off all of the Democrats. I don't think the Democratic party elders are that supid...but if they are, it might be the only way mcCain could win.

Hillary supporters would also go ballistic. I suspect that the only one voting for Gore might be himself.
