Do these folks know how hard it is to get lemon peels to go down the drain WITHOUT one?

I agree with your ban on liberals but just think of all of the fun you could have with just a couple of empty garbage disposal boxes.
What you would do, after you can get a hold of some boxes, is to identify the leading liberals/greens/commies in town and during the night before trash is picked up, put the empty box in their trash making sure it can been seen but looks like it was attempted to be hidden.
If the city is banning garbage disposals they should have a bounty on those installing or repairing them. Make a liberals life miserable and earn some Beer & BBQ money.

Love all the sewage experts here /NOT who push their labor savings onto everyone else as a cost and gleefully claim it to be a constitutional right.
There is no "natural right" to use a garbage disposal that empties into a city sewer.
Hooray for the city of Raleigh -- the have both right and duty to maintain the city water and sewer and set whatever regulation they view as proper to do so!

Try Charlotte. We are in a drought so we get fined if we wash our car or water our lawn. As a result we have conserved so much that the water utility is not taking in enough money. My reward for being a good citizen is going to be higher water bills. Thats right. Even though I am using less I will be paying more. Is this a great city or what?
They also raised the "runoff" tax ... I guess we have too much rainwater running off our roofs during this drought.

I guess they’re going to do sink inspections in Raleigh. The would have to stamp a serial # on the units, then look for new ones showing up in subsequent inspections.
They could measure the amount of water in each toilet flush while they’re at it.

As a plumber, I couldn't be happier. To many people take the name dispos-all to literally. You wouldn't believe the stuff people try to send down the drains. Come on folks. Collect the refuse in the strainer and walk the two steps to the trash can. Raleigh is on the right track although the fines seem a bit stiff.

I'm not a liberal, but there is some truth to the problems with the use of garbage disposers.
Wouldn't that depend on what you put into the disposal unit?

You would think that the City of Charlotte would drill a few wells too. Nope. They have always relied on the Catawba River and by gum if it was good enough for pappy it’s good enough for me.

Is it any wonder the Feds won’t build an immigration court or detention facility here?

People with septic systems know better than to use a garbage disposal. You can’t pour gasoline or toxic chemicals down a public waste water system, this is more or less the same thing.
Public goods and services encourage irresponsibility.

I don’t throw grease down the drain anyway because I don’t want to pay a plumber to unstop it. Geez, education may go a long way here, rather than banning garbage deposals.

Raleigh residents are urged to collect grease in an old can or jar, allow it to harden and put it in the trash. Do they actually mean that people don't have the sense to do this without being instructed to do so.
Unbelievable!

I mean, Episcopal. I was actually at an Episcopal church in Hoboken (the city that really wants to matter) -- the hows and why's are a bit of storyIt's a really interesting place. It's had quite a comeback in the last few years. Being so close to a tunnel and directly across from NYC make it an ideal place for up and coming NYC executives and their families to live. My sister lived there (she just moved to Weehawken (sp?), just down the road), and she's a realtor in Hoboken. There's been no housing slowdown there, except for mortgages. There's still a ton of new housing and retail building going on there.

Which is exactly what they have done with electric. They preach that you must cut back on usage, then they raise the rates because they not taking in enough money.
