We almost lost one - rough seas - guy slipped and hit the back of his head on a hatch knife edge. “Doc” sewed him up on the mess room table amidst the smell of vomit - the guy was out cold - no anesthetic needed. He did puke all over the place tho while we held him as study as we could. circa.1962.

I see what you mean. And and fool with a brain knows there is risk in this world. It is risky business crossing a street. Fishing for crab in the Bering Sea is very risky business.

There are many levels of risk - in the Navy we trained around the consequences - still sh*t happens. The sea is unpredictable.
