So-called "environmentalists" insist on making polar bears the centerpiece for their fight against capitalism. They insist that polar bears are nearing extinction because of man-made global warming. It's not theory to them .. it's etched-in-stone fact.

Right now the Bush administration is being sued by environmental groups claiming the Fish and Wildlife Service is in breach of its own mandate – its failure to protect the polar bear as an endangered species.

Well, yes ... there actually has been a delay to determine whether or not polar bears are actually endangered species. The fact of the matter is that they are not ... there are more polar bears today than there were in the 1970s. A lot more.

But environmentalists can't seem to understand that simple concept, or they just don't want to admit it. They believe that Bush is delaying the decision so his administration can sell oil and gas leases in Alaska, where, by the way, you find most polar bears.

These pseudo-environmentalists don't really care about the polar bears. The polar bears are just a symbol. By getting the Bush administration to recognize the polar bear as an endangered species, this somehow means that Bush has recognized the "fact of climate change."

It will be the first time that a species' main threat would be listed as "global warming." Even more telling ... for environmentalists, this isn't about proving climate change to be a fact. This is about capitalism. This is about oil. This is about corporations and the evil rich.

Let's take a look at one Kassie Siegel. Kassie is the climate program director at the Center for Biological Diversity. Here's what she has to say about the lawsuit. "For seven years they have denied or downplayed global warming ... This is the thing that has pinned them into a corner; either they go to court and lose, or acknowledge it — and acknowledge that our greenhouse gas emissions are driving the polar bear to extinction."

To extinction? There are 20,000 more polar bears today than there were in 1972. But to a warmer, this just doesn't seem to matter.

Guess who is opposed to these environmental groups and their quest to "save" the polar bears ... Eskimos in Alaska and Canada. For the Inuit community, polar bears are a source of food, clothing and income, and it has been this way for hundreds of years. By listing the polar bears as an endangered species, these people's entire livelihoods and culture could be almost completely destroyed, all because of the global warming hysteria.

Even Natives in Alaska question these dire predictions of a warming climate in the Northern Hemisphere. Remember .. these precious polar bears have managed to hang around for 200,000 years. They have survived both ice ages and the latest interglacial period. Interglacial? That's means warming periods.

Remember .. and I'm repeating myself here ... it's not about the bears. This all about maneuvering Bush into a position where he has to admit that global warming is real. It isn't.

I wonder where Neil got 20,000 more polar bear number? I’d like to know for argument’s sake. If I am debating an environmentalist and tell them that there are more polar bears today and not less, I’d like to be able to say.....you moron.....look it up on__________ and you’ll see that polar bears are not endangered.

There is a man (can’t remember his name) who is considered the world’s leading ‘expert’ on polar bears. I heard him on a radio talk show within the last year and he just laughed out loud when asked about polar bear ‘extinction’. He said he is very familiar with all of the world’s polar bear populations - works with them all year, every year - and all with the exception of one are doing just great. The difficulty the one population (in Russia, I believe) was experiencing had nothing to do with global warming - a slight adjustment to the hunting of this population was the solution and he expected them to be fine. He was quite adamant that to put them on the ‘endangered’ list was ridiculous.

Somebody might give this guy a call and let him know that Global Warming and climate change are last week’s buzzwords. Pollution, ozone hole, and Dead Zone should be substituted where the obsolete terms have appeared.
