LOL. If you have to ask what winning means, you are not a winner.

The best thing about it is that when McCain goes down in flames, he’ll take Slick with him. There are a lot of people here saying, “Romney’s our guy in 2012.” Way to aim low!

I think it is a HUGE mistake to put Romney on the ticket.

Several reasons:

1) McCain needs a TRUE conservative, someone who has been solid across the board his ENTIRE career to help shore up the base. Mitt does NOT fit that description.

2) Like it or not there will be a TON of Southern voters who WILL NOT vote for a Mormon. Go look at the primary votes and tell me I am wrong.

3) AND the GREATEST reason: You don't bring in Mitt to highlight that McCain doesn't know squat about the economy. He then makes the guy at the TOP of the ticket look like a dunderhead.

My choice would be Sanford, Pawlenty, or Blackwell.

Here is the deal though. Karl Rove is an outside adviser to McCain and he is ALL over the McCain/Romney ticket. Hopefully McCain will get some better advice. McCain’s biggest weakness at this point is not his lack of knowledge regarding the economy. He can overcome that by coming up with a great plan and selling it on the stump. His biggest problem is energizing and shoring up the base. Mitt does nothing to fix that.

Mitt as Sec. of Treasury but NOT as VP!

At this point, the only way I’d vote for McStain is if Romney is on the ticket as VP.

With Mitt as Veep, I’d be willing to dust off my grassroots political activist/volunteer shoes and actually campaign for McStain. McStain’s campaign would love to have Mitt’s grassroots volunteers - they are hard-working and very loyal. Romney contributors tend to be pretty generous, too (myself included).

And yes, I thought that Alan Colmes looked very pretty tonight. Tonight his makeup looked like it was done by a mortician as opposed to a blind, drunken harlot. For what it’s worth, I think he dyed his hair, too.

Not to mention his sons are rather successful on their own merits.

Here’s the real deal: It doesn’t matter who McCain picks, since he has no chance of winning the WH.

This election is a foregone conclusion for the Dems, I’m sorry to say.

Our focus now should be on trying to win as many House and Senate seats as possible to limit the damage Shrillary or Obama will be able to do.

That’s my pessimistic opinion. You’re free to disagree, of course. But I think we’d be better off focusing our energy where we may actually accomplish something.

Romney IS the new Reagan. You people just don’t see it yet.

NewsWeak Magazine had a cover photo of Romney subtitled “A Mormon Journey!”

WTF is that about? The liberal media framed him specifically as “a Mormon!!”

And many of you here diss Romney so unfairly.

Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face - Romney is the only hope for a McCain ticket (someone dynamic, youthful and a superb debater). Romney could make mincemeat out of either Hillary or Obama. It would be a joy to watch and you people here don’t even see that. You’ve been brainwashed by the media about his mormonism and his so-called flip-flopping that was so exaggerated by the left-wing conspiracy media.

He spent a lot of his money because he was relatively unknown. And he’s not black, or a woman, or a recognized household name like McCain. Obama got all the free press because he’s “the black man running for president.”

Romney is “the good-looking, successful white male, and a Mormon” - so of course he had to advertise himself to overcome the huge media biases against him.

I disagree with many of the remarks above.

Romney would provide the GOP ticket with a very strong expertise in economics and dealing with the economy, as well as strong leadership in a high powered executive office environment. Both of these areas are weaknesses of McCain, and he could be a very valuable asset for governing, assuming that McCain were able to take the advice and get along with Romney. Only those two know that, though.

It would not provide any balance for the ticket in a geographical or ideological sense, however, and though I ended up supporting Romney in my primary, I would not like to see him as McCain’s VP... There are many better choices for that in my opinion.

I would prefer to see Romney as Sec.Treasury, or some such, instead.

That’s the truth, altura. Frankly, the “gotta have a REAL conservative” folks need to get over it for the time being, ‘cause it’s not going to happen in ‘08.

Then let's just go all the way, shall we?

Romney is still the second highest popular vote getter, and the second highest in delegates...

Yup - that massive 30% in the primary will just cause a McCain / Romney ticket to sail through in the general election.

I mostly agree.

Our focus now should be on trying to win as many House and Senate seats as possible to limit the damage Shrillary or Obama will be able to do.

The problem with that strategy is that if the base is ticked off at McCain and the ticket in general, they will stay home and not vote for Senators and Congressman. You still have to go into the voting booth even if you are going to vote 3rd party, a write in, or grudgingly vote for McPain.

Since much of the Conservative base is now totally disgusted with McPain - he is going to lose millions of votes, and that will affect Congress.
