It’s not that they were more humane...they just knew the language and the humans don’t.

Maybe the dolphin was helping the humans. They were unsucessfully trying to get the whales to sea so .......

Bottlenosed dolphins sometimes attack sharks that are trying to kill whales. With their long, hard noses they aim at the middle of a spot on the sharks forehead and can kill them.

PERHAPS the whales were refusing to go back in the water because of the sharks, and the dolphin was able to tell them in ultrasonic sound that it was now safe.

How did the dolphin know the humans were wanting to do more than put the whales in the water? Somehow it knew that the whales were lost and needed guidance.
Is it possible it understands English and Whale-ish.
