McCain topper to allies: Stay on message (Talking Points For ALL To Follow)
Politico ^ | March 11, 2008 | Jonathan Martin

After being forced to respond to three separate incidents in recent weeks of conservatives alluding to Barack Obama's middle name, John McCain's campaign manager today sent a memo to top supporters urging them to stick to the campaign's preferred message -- and to avoid taking gratuitous shots at their Democratic rivals.

"We expect that all supporters, surrogates and staff will hold themselves to similarly high standards when they are representing the campaign. To help guide you, please find talking points below."

I believe it’s pretty fundamental that when your enemy is digging a hole, you don’t offer to jump in and help them dig. The only way McCain can get MSM coverage at this point is to engage in personal attacks like his opponents are doing almost daily. If he did that, the MSM would focus entirely on McCain’s nagative personal attacks, thus creating a ceasefire between his opponents. Remember that even questioning a liberal is seen my the MSM as an attack.

McCain is not my first choice either, but I’ll never demand that he slit his throat at the alter of the all-too-eager liberal MSM chihuahua’s.

He doesn't care that much about winning an election. This is about settling a score. McCain would be quite comfortable with a RAT (other than himself) in the White House. He works o well with them.

This is all about wiping out any conservative influence in the GOP.

McCain is already in a blood fight. A blood fight with those masochistic enough to support him. I never remember any candidate spending his time abusing his supporters the way this self righteous fool does. There's nothing adult about it.

And, if I were a liberal stooge who just got his marching orders at 3AM from Hillery or Barack to get on websites like FR and do everything to question and dismantle everything McCain -— it would look just like the kind of comments being posted herein.

There is no reason for any conservative to expect anything but abuse and betrayal from McCain. Either as a senator, a candidate, or a president. In the White House, he would accommodate, placate and collude with his good friends across the aisle. Iraq is not the only problem facing the US. There are actually things much closer to home and more immediately dangerous. And McCain is on the wrong side.

Arrrg! When did it become a personal attack to point out what someone has stated he/she will do if elected and what they have said or done in the past? It is drawing contrast and you cannot do it in the 3 weeks before the election and expect to get any attention drawn to it.

The truth is sometimes ugly and not pretty.

When it comes to conservatives, McCain isn't keeping insults too a minimum. It's as if e was running against his own party. And in his demented mind, he probably thinks he is.

What on earth makes you think he will change his tactics in late summer. He's running against the Republicans and he will continue to do so.

And if I were a McCain campaign shill with a recent sign on date my posts might look exactly like yours.

Do you really believe that the MSM will carry McCain’s political message? His campaign will have to pay for his message to get out, and he’s fairly low on funds. Have you contributed to his campaign so he can achieve just what you are hyperventilating about? McCain gets no free publicity from a fawning liberal media like his opponents.

Everyone here seems to be offering up nothing but disparaging remarks - so don’t vote for him then - and move along.

Try as you might, you won't get anywhere with various FReepers who only show up around election time to bitch and moan and throw crap like a monkey on the only logical candidate.

McCain should be dismantled. He is not fit to be president. It seems like some McCain thugs have signed up recently.

I wont’ and I won’t. As a voting taxpayer I can complain all I want.

I only contribute to conservatives. McCain couldn’t get his message out if he own a tv network. I take that back he could get out his “I’m a RINO message loud a clear”.

McCain is mad as a hatter. Since when have republicans EVER issued talking points? What is the penalty for not following them?

Hmmm. If I’m Hillary or Obama, I would consider it my greatest political achievement to be able to disenfranchise the Republican base and keep them from going to the polls, thus ensuring my election and America’s first communist Imamocracy or Gynecocracy.

Ha, your getting that in one form or another no matter who wins my friend. Do not fool yourself to thinking that McCain will stand for conservative values if in office he will cross the aisle to his buddies Kerry, Lieberman, Clinton, and Obama for their input, just like he did on the amnesty bill.
