At the end of a Good Morning America segment today about Barack Obama's pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., an Obama campaign representative complained that John McCain's pastor had not been similarly "vetted." If that's true, then ABC or some other media outlet surely should and will do so.
Let's imagine that upon vetting, McCain's pastor is found to have made statements that were the mirror-image of those that Rev. Wright has made. How long would McCain remain a viable candidate? Judge for yourself, based on Rev. Wright's statements as exposed in the GMA segment that was the result of work by ABC's chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross. A number of clips were aired from sermons Wright gave at his Trinity United Church of Christ.
JEREMIAH WRIGHT: "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law, and then wants us to sing God Bless America? No, no, no! Not God bless America. God damn America! It's in the Bible, for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating its citizens as less than human!"

Such a contrast from our Baptist church when there’s not a dry eye in the congregation when celebrating July 4th, Memorial Day, etc.
Vote Obama! He’ll take drugs off the street.
Breathtaking.
Truly.
Yesterday, I posted a comment about Jesse Jackson and all his appearances in churces in the past. I didn’t understand how the “pastor” of Obama’s church was behaving.
This AM, I saw the segment on TV showing his condemning comments that are a far distance from the church pulpit, IMO.
I have grave doubts that this “church” should retain this man. He is spouting treasonous comments, I now think.
I have no problem with the IRS going after this church and looking hard at what they are really all about.
The clip this AM would be fodder for McCain’s campaign in the fall, IMO.
And this is the man Sen. and Mrs. Obama chose to teach their daughters in spiritual matters? It sounds exactly like the hate that Muslim imams preach to their people. Unbelievable.”
I thought I was listening to someone who is the leader of a mosque.... He is a hatefilled person, and I cannot in good conscience give him the proper respect of any minister or preacher or priest.
Wright is wrong.
I heard it, too...if you tune in to Rush, he’s about to play the sound bites.
On “Hannity and Colmes”, he referred to our country as “the United States of White America.”
Obama’s only half white. Does that mean he can only be half a member?
Just heard the 2003 sermon snippet on Rush. AMAZING!
That's why she has to BE such a big one!
Boy, does this guy preach hate or what.
There is a HUGE difference between McCain getting an endorsement, finding out the guy is anti-Catholic and repudiating him and Obama seeking out a pastor and calling him your spiritual adviser, and giving over $20,000 dollars a year to further the hate speech and never once LEAVING that hate spewing place.
You may not like McCain, but don't even try to equate him and Obama on this one. That crap belongs on DU.
And into the churches.
I’m no McCain fan, but I have to correct you, McCain has not tied himself to that fundamentalist, Texas TV preacher. McCain has made that clear.
I'm still waiting for the 'repudiating' part.
Did it in no uncertain terms on Bill Bennett’s show on Monday.
