Actually, you are understating the security forces.
E.G. There are two more ISOF Regional Commando Battalions at 80% manning and two more beyond that to become operational in May and July.
Did you know that the Iraqi Army runs 118,000 per year thru bootcamp compared to the US Army’s 89,000. And that they are expanding training to increase that to 130,000. The police are training 73,000 per year and expanding over this year to 117,000.
Rick...thanks for posting.
It is incredibly sad, pathetic really, that on the rare occasions I come to FR these days, every thread becomes a "Bash Bush" session by the likes of posts like yours. 10 out of 50 posts made for the sole purpose of further denigrating our President. It has gone beyond old and tiresome. Give it up! He will be gone in 10 months. Then who you going to bitch about?
There has always been good news coming out of Iraq. Instead of helping get that news out, many here have assisted the treasonous cretins in CONgress and the Enemedia in demolishing and perverting any good news.
Do any of you bother to read, search, look for news, REAL news on Iraq?
Have you ever read this?
Best source for President Bush's words and actions on Iraq!
God knows you never hear about this on the "news" or read about it in one of the "major" propaganda rags. Of course, if any of his statements were published, it was only to ridicule him and/or call him a liar using un-sourced information, words taken out of context, or innuendos. Many of you here helped their efforts. Disgusting!
Dude, didn’t they tell you when you bought your computer that your keyboard only comes with a limited number of ?????’s?
So, thanks Rick66.
Give it a rest. Petraeus is doing a great job, as the article said. There was a very steep learnign curve climbing over a lot of careerists, neocons, political hangers on, the Provisional Authority under Bremer, the mistake of bungled deBa'athification and disbandment of the Iraq army, failure to take the humanitarian side of the role seriously, no plan going in for what to do after the easy part of evicting Sadam was over. The fact that as it turns out Sadam was encircled by US forces and well contained and so it is not exactly clear that there was a pressing urgency to take him out at all.
Nothing new here. We have had to do this war after war after war. It is the same lesson over and over again.
There is really great news coming out now. No question about it.
Yes, there were plenty of mistakes made, particularly in the beginning, but there was always progress. The trouble is that only the mistakes, problems and numerous setbacks were reported, distorted, exaggerated and spun.
The progress that has been in forward motion all along and finally got us to where we are now was never reported. I've been reporting progress here on FR since 2004 and have been saying since late 2005 that eventually the progress would become so vast that the media would be unable to spin it anymore.
That time is here. The media pretty much ignores Iraq now, but it isn't hard to read between the lines of that.
No democracy has been born without sacrifice, heartache and growing pains. This one is no exception.
I said to the naysayers on here for years, "This is going to work." I was flamed, called an interesting assortment of insulting names and derided as being over-optimistic.
It's working.
had to get that out the way.
Getting it out of the way is fine, but as VeritatisSplendor said earlier on this thread it's also true to a large degree. Bush doesn't seem interested in confounding his detractors with the truth, even though it would be quite easy to do if he were to hold a televised FDR-style fireside chat with the American people now and then.
He could also name his dog Falla and have him lying by his feet to make himself appear folksy and down to earth. Hey don't knock it, it worked like a Rolex watch for FDR.
I need a working link to make SURE this is the truth. Thanks.
Most of this is old news,2005, and links have already been listed. Here’s a link.

Absolutely use it. The facts speak for themselves if anyone is listening or cares.
Apparently ignorance is bliss and reading comprehension around here isn't so hot either. Keep up the good work and give my best wishes to your Iraqi friends!
Go spew your line of crap somewhere else.
DON'T BLAME PRESIDENT BUSH...THEY NEVER COVER HIM. The dinasour media never cover the positive...haven't you noticed? The donkeys are supported by this media...they seem to be hiding it...
THANK YOU, PRESIDENT BUSH!!!
What line of crap?
Since I presume I’m one of those whose denigration of President Bush disturbs you, a thought. Ronald Reagan CONSISTENTLY went over the heads of the MSM by talking directly to the American people via TV addresses. Has President Bush done that? Not that I’ve seen.
When I have seen him speak, with rare exceptions he hasn’t done the most professional job. I’ll spot him that. But have you ever heard him reel off any of the statisstics in the article? Point to any of those accomplishments. Do anything other than talk bromides and generalities, or speak talking points? I haven’t. And like it or not, selling the real accomplishments in Iraq and Afghanistan is part of his job.
And in ten months’ time we’ll see if there’s a need to “bitch about” the next POTUS. Considering the field, likely.
i was being sarcastic and truthful at the same time lol
I know and no one appreciates good sarcasm and BDS more than me. It’s just ironic, and sad, that this is one of the things that is Bush’s fault.
