Actually the “urban legend” I was referring to — at least it was at the time — was some guy “waking up in a bathtub full of ice in a US hotel room to find that he had lost a kidney & didn’t know what happened to him”. I should have been clearer — I meant “kidnapped, involuntary live donors’ when I referred to it being an “urban legend” here in the US.

Don’t dismiss that as an urban legend either. The human trafficking rings are only now making the news. Lots of unknowns about the fate of the kids that were held in servitude when their income potential runs out.
