Obama lectures us on race, gender and equality. Obama's speech text

"A More Perfect Union" Remarks of Senator Barack Obama Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

10:17:53 ET

“We the people, in order to form a more perfect union.”

Two hundred and twenty one years ago, in a hall that still stands across the street, a group of men gathered and, with these simple words, launched America’s improbable experiment in democracy. Farmers and scholars; statesmen and patriots who had traveled across an ocean to escape tyranny and persecution finally made real their declaration of independence at a Philadelphia convention that lasted through the spring of 1787.

The document they produced was eventually signed but ultimately unfinished. It was stained by this nation’s original sin of slavery, a question that divided the colonies and brought the convention to a stalemate until the founders chose to allow the slave trade to continue for at least twenty more years, and to leave any final resolution to future generations.

Of course, the answer to the slavery question was already embedded within our Constitution – a Constitution that had at is very core the ideal of equal citizenship under the law; a Constitution that promised its people liberty, and justice, and a union that could be and should be perfected over time.

And yet words on a parchment would not be enough to deliver slaves from bondage, or provide men and women of every color and creed their full rights and obligations as citizens of the United States.

“whenever I find myself feeling doubtful or cynical about this possibility, what gives me the most hope is the next generation”

Is that why he takes his kids to this Church of Black Values, what possible unity can we get from the Hate Whitey message of Jeramiah Wright? Obama you took your kids to this disgrace of a church... Your kids.... Sowing the seeds of anger and hate is not good judgement for any parent.

Not going to happen. White America is now onto him and his black separatist/racist ways.

He’s done and the dems know it. They cannot put a candidate forward who will not be able to get the white blue collar vote.

Without the full support of all the segments of the democratic vote he’s finished. This revelation about his church membership will turn off any of the moderates who were supporting him just as the publication of his wife’s racist thesis/rant did.

His armor doesn’t just have chinks in it, it’s now been turned into paper.

YES....he sits in the “church” and “dismisses” what the REV says....but, what about his daughters.....just think of what their heads have been filled with, and the celebrating they’ve seen surrounding those topics.....SICK!

This speech is OUTSTANDING!

I hope the Americans are not taken in by this, for in every great lie, there is the thread of truth.

He is a dangerous man who will stop at nothing. He is a marxist who is trying to sell himself as "anyman", a man who has a phenomenal ability to speak and convince people that he is the answer. It scares me.

I’ve walked away from my church as the home office national agenda was one that supported abortion, homosexuality, and boycotts of Israel.

These are not things of Christ’s teachings.

We'll see. Watch the poll numbers. In many ways, we are lucky this came out now, because I'm betting he has swatted this away, and if this had occurred in October, it would be seen as his ability to "overcome adversity."

If, on the other hand, people perceive that his message of "change" is in fact a continuation of the same policies that have destroyed people for 50 years, that is something to run on.

My thoughts, too. You have to take what he has handed us, though, which is AN ADMISSION that the policies of the last 50 years have been a disaster for blacks, then show that far from “change,” he’s PERPETUATING them.

“I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners – an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters.”

So he claims to be “down with the struggle” by proxy. If I married a multi-generational black woman, I too could claim my children as the descendents of slaves. But it would not suddenly make it a part of my “shared legacy” as Barry is trying to claim.

Piss off Obama.

You have no right to lecture me on race.

If you are German, I do not hold you responsible for the holocaust.

If you are Russian, I do not hold you responsible for the purges.

If you are black, I do not hold you responsible for selling your own people to the slavers in Africa (yeah Obama, pick up a book sometime and you may learn something)

And I do not hold white Americans responsible for slavery.

The people responsible for this ARE DEAD! The only reason race keeps becoming an issue Mr Obama is because you keep making it an issue. I do not care one bit about the color of your skin. Doesn't matter to me.

I do care that you preach change without any substance behind it. You preach hope but offer nothing to generate it.

I do care that you associate yourself with the “hate America” crowd. You see Mr Obama, I love my country. I don't always agree with our leaders, but that doesn't make me yell “G** D*** America”. It doesn't make me threaten to move to another country. I respond with the tools at my disposal. My Vote, and My Voice.

So again, I say Mr Obama, bite me. Take your racist rhetoric somewhere else. I'm not buying.

So why is it that we never hear from Obama’s White Granny alive and well in Honolulu.... Seems like she would have alot to say about Obama’s attitude towards race.

He reminds me of Hitler in his ability to mesmerize the crowd.

Why associate myself with Reverend Wright in the first place, they may ask? Why not join another church? And I confess that if all that I knew of Reverend Wright were the snippets of those sermons that have run in an endless loop on the television and You Tube, or if Trinity United Church of Christ conformed to the caricatures being peddled by some commentators, there is no doubt that I would react in much the same way.

But the truth is, that isn’t all that I know of the man. The man I met more than twenty years ago is a man who helped introduce me to my Christian faith, a man who spoke to me about our obligations to love one another; to care for the sick and lift up the poor.

Of course because he didn't get any of this from his upbringing. Barf. He's mentall ill.

On the other end, we’ve heard my former pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, use incendiary language to express views that have the potential not only to widen the racial divide, but views that denigrate both the greatness and the goodness of our nation; that rightly offend white and black alike.

I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy. For some, nagging questions remain. Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I’m sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.

Think this would work for any member of Phelps' cult running for public office in a national campaign?

Hitler had Jewish roots, and Obama has White roots...what are the odds? Self-hate...nagging questions?

“Obama’s “weird uncle” defense doesn’t bode well when common sense is applied.
Obama has said Wright is his spiritual adviser.
When you chose a weird uncle as your adviser, you get weird advice.
A man who claims to embrace Christianity as well as partial birth abortion demonstrates that he serves two masters.”

He's got to be some sort of sociopath.

He believes he's entitled to everything, will lie over and over, and manipulates emotions with no sense of a conscious.

The only good part is that this kook's run is over no matter what he tries to do.
