"I’m probably among three or four people on this board who thought it was a fine speech."

Listened to it on my way to Appleton yesterday and I also thought it sounded quite good, considering the ends he wanted?

Would/did I buy it?
No.
Did his supporters and those on the fence concerning the guy buy it?
You bet.

Moreover Obama's supporters are feeling more self righteous then ever.
The guy has some masterful propagandists writing his pap, that's for damned sure, and we'll see it play-out in the coming weeks and months in his favor. ;^)

"At this point any further exploration of the 'Wright' issue is going to be seen as piling on, due to the very influences he highlighted across the racial divide."

HA!!
Spot-on analysis, ol' friend.
They're all set to do what the left does better than anyone or thing else: attack the attacker visa vi anything attacking his message where his message may be defined omnidirectional, as needed.
Slick as snot.

"The Clinton campaign can’t touch this anymore for fear of the inevitable backlash. Another bullet missed it’s mark."

Correcto mundo.
The hag-bag's today *complimenting* the guy after trying to "lynch" 'em, too. :o)
State-of-the-art politics, at its best, "Clinton style".

Those discounting the overall positive impact of this are merely whistling past the graveyard.
So be it, forewarned is (still) forearmed.

On a related note, listen to this.
My father-in-law's a devote Democrat. Quintessential limousine liberal if ever there were.
{Believe me the man & I have mixed it up more than once, sometimes getting so *spirited* the girls had to come between us [read: rescue him]. *That* kind of Democrat? {g} }

Wellllll via telephone --from his winter vacation pad in Scottsdale, no less -- seems the ol' boy said if Obama gets the nod? He's going to vote for McCain!!!
Said this to his daughter who in-turn told me or I'd have not learned of this, ever if a'tall.

Can make up your own mind as to *why* a died-in-the-wool Democrat would do something they themselves have to find as outrageous as anything they could possibly do with their vote.
I've my own suspicion.
Be that as it may I'll bet the man's not alone among the Democrat *base*.

...of that you may be sure. ;^)

Obama Republicans during the Primary season spawning millions of McCain Democrats in the fall General election...Hmmmm...

Though this be madness, yet there is method in it...

Thanks for the info!
