Detention deputies give union the boot

Pasco County detention deputies voted 132-62 to decertify the bargaining unit that has been representing them in contract negotiations with Sheriff Bob White. In balloting Tuesday and Wednesday, the jail's sworn deputies overwhelmingly voted out the Fraternal Order of Police, less than two years after voting to unionize. The union had yet to finalize a labor contract. Although not at an official impasse with White, it had been stalled in contract talks over the right to appeal disciplinary action. That's the same issue keeping law enforcement deputies from finalizing their labor contract. The law enforcement units do not have decertification votes scheduled but are at an official impasse with the sheriff.

This is a trend that needs to continue. Glad to see we have some public employees that can think for themselves.

George from New England is now from Tampa Bay. George does not know of a freeping way to change his username without losing his longevity status. Help by private email would be great!

You’re right. The enforcement deputies are showing good business sense.

Agree , albeit not a member , our company has a union that sends all their dues to the national office and then when negations time comes they use Bob and Linda local big mouths and bitchers to negotiate against trained professionals. It is sad to watch such organizations get fleeced in such a manner year after year by their beloved union they think are there for em !

They all wear buttons , pins , jackets and hats (they pay for out of pocket) yet are living payday to payday and can’t afford too strike and the company knows it.......:o)
