I think I read that in 1976 there was an EQ in China that was an 8.2. Killed over 200,000 folks. Probably near Bejing.

Looks like a large drying up lake bed with some water to the north east a bit. Notice there seems to be a couple of large craters or something near there as well.

Maybe, but I was Googling around last night and read an 8.3 magnitude. Maybe it was downgraded later on. Who knows? I Google at night when it’s quiet. . .
