Iran reportedly purchased $1 billion in arms for Syria, including missile systems.

The report in the Ha'aretz newspaper Friday was unsourced but arises out of this week's meeting in Israel between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Angela Merkel, the German chancellor. Germany closely monitors the Iranian arms trade.

LOL

Well, as stated in many threads, at least the Germans won’t work against us now. What’s happening directly affects them and surely they are keeping a close eye on events, just like they had a real interest in Libya and Iraq’s long range missile programs.

There is a reason why Germany as far back as eight years ago ordered 300 Patriot PAC 3 missiles. Why they pushed to be under the interceptor missile shield through NATO, why they are part of the MEADS program and bought Standard Missile 3, all systems dedicated to missile defense.

I don’t want to have any displaced anger at Merkel and she is part of the answer, not the problem. But Schroeder actually took cheap political shots at Bush and the US, playing the typical US = warmongering, saber rattling, destabilizing, new arms race etc., arguments which have broad appeal to the Germans. He actually fueled some of the anti-US sentiment in Germany and then harnessed it for his reelection in 2002 which heavily relied on the growing Iraq crisis. In 2000 while the German government through NATO was demanding assurances that they too be under the interceptor missile shield, signed up to be on board with MEADS and bought PAC 3 Patriot, Schroeder made public statements about the US and how we’re causing a new arms race, destabilizing the world etc. While sitting in the boat with all others, already not really carrying their own damn weight, he and his party back stab those who are taking action for their own personal political gain. Despicable-

Some people say if we get 4 years Hilabama we will get another Reagan, yet with 4 years of Carter we are getting 30 years of Mullah rule. in Iran.
