I think the more important message from this article is why one should NEVER commit suicide. J.K. Rowlings is a great testament to waiting it out. Look how her life turned out.

I do not have any particular regard for her books, but she has certainly become financially successful and will never have the fears and worries she did while being a single, struggling mother.

I think her depression had more to do with the end of the marriage and the stress of single parenthood than the fact that her writing didn’t take off immediately.

But to make an ignorant and unjustified statement about depression as an earlier poster did is ...

well, both ignorant and cruel.

Seven Reasons Not to Commit Suicide

  1. You don't own your life. Having the humility to accept this fact is the first step to recovery.
  2. Your suicide would condemn anyone who loves you to a life of sadness. It's been said that suicide is the most selfish act of all.
  3. Whatever your own personal definition of hell is, you will go there.
  4. You will never be with God.
  5. You will never be with your loved ones in eternity.
  6. You never know what fortune has in store for you.

And finally, the one that may be the most effective persuader of all:

  7. Who's going to say what about you when you're gone? Your life may be miserable, but as long as you're around, you can at least still defend yourself.
