The dictionary defines McCarthyism as "personal attacks on individuals by means of widely publicized indiscriminate allegations, especially on the basis of unsubstantiated charges."

Another myth is that the Libs hated McCarthy. While they did have an intense disliking for him, they also had a genuine respect for him for helping them develop their current methods and strategies that they have employed against the Republicans and Conservatives ever since. And now, they have become so practiced in their version of "McCarthyism" that they have now taken to using it against members of their own party. So, they didn't like McCarthy but he, or at least their concept of him and what he did, was a mentor figure to the modern Democratic Party.

McPeak
"I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it."
Speaks volumes about McPeak as well.

Tail gunner Joe, as he often was referred as, had uncovered an enormous amount of factually correct information exposing communism within the state department(still there today) as well as the FDR administration. McCarthy's mistake was going after General George C. Marshall and the Army signal corps at Monmouth, New Jersey.

Is in not interesting how as history was rewritten to deny the facts of McCarthy, now has to written to accurately portray what in fact happened and is undeniable today....

[ British historian Andrew Roberts in his "History of the English-Speaking Peoples Since 1900" writes that McCarthy "did not in fact discover a single communist." ]

Not true.. McCarthy discovered few that were NOT communists.. Proved by the Winona papers and research into KGB files in Moscow.. Easily researched.. Actually several books were written about what was found..

Like Stalin funded most of the communist partys activity's in the United States directly and guided by several known american operatives of espionage under foreign control.. Most of whom worked within the Roosevelt and Truman administrations.. Domestic communist and socialist operatives still are embedded in the State Department and other career positions..

The republican party has cared less for decades.. To the extent socialism is a word almost never heard in Washington D.C. even though espionage is the main effect.. All three current Presidential hopefuls are virulent socialist operatives..

I don’t agree that McCarthyism was anything more than a witch hunt. If we really want to reject communism, we should stop voting for major party socialists.

Snip

With the opening of the KGB archives and the release of the VENONA intercepts - decoded Soviet KGB and GRU traffic - it has been proved that McCarthy was absolutely right about the extensive Soviet penetration of the U.S. government in all the most sensitive sections and its danger to America.

http://www.nsa.gov/venona/index.cfm

According to the KGB archives the NKVD had 221 agents in the Roosevelt administration in April 1941 and the Soviet military GRU probably had a like number. He was proved right that the Communist Party, U.S.A., was an arm of the Soviet intelligence apparatus and the Soviet Union considered the US as their "main enemy." His liberal critics in academe and the mainstream media, who denied there was Communist subversion and made excuses for it, were proved absolutely wrong! This should have discredited the liberal ideology and those who mouthed it. Because the left had no answer or effective reply to the challenge McCarthy posed, they engaged in personal destruction - they smeared and demonized McCarthy because he was truth.

But the best I have read so far is Ann’s section on the Senator in the following book:

Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism by Ann Coulter (Hardcover - Jun 24, 2003) 248 Used & new from $0.01 = 3.99 S&H

And I watched most of the hearings, and followed the whole viscious Democraat persecution of the Senatorfrom the start of his diclosures to his death. And the Democrats haven't been able to tell the truth about anything since that disgraceful performance of theirs against one of the greatest patriots in our history.
