The whole world now knows that for nearly 20 years, Sen. Barack Obama has attended Chicago's Trinity United Church and that his pastor is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. In his speech on race on March 18, Obama criticized some of Wright's statements but also essentially excused and rationalized the pastor's sermons. He summarized the reality for many African-Americans growing up in past decades inferior, segregated schools; discrimination; lack of economic opportunity; inability to provide for one's family before stating, "This is the reality in which Reverend Wright and other African-Americans of his generation grew up." Half right.
African-Americans suffered, many even horrifically, in the past, but Rev. Wright was not one of them.
How do I know?
It happens that, as a Philadelphian, I attended Central High School the same public school Jeremiah Wright attended from 1955 to 1959. He could have gone to an integrated neighborhood school, but he chose to go to Central, a virtually all-white school. Central is the second-oldest public high school in the country, which attracts the most serious academic students in the city. The school then was about 80 percent Jewish and 95 percent white. The African-American students, like all the others, were there on merit. Generally speaking, we came from lower/middle class backgrounds. Many of our parents had not received a formal education, and we tended to live in row houses. In short, economically, we were roughly on par.

I get it now. Wright grew up in a far tonier area than my father, had a better education than he did and much better educated parents as well. But the country is run for the benefit of white people.
Makes perfect sense. So does the fact that Wright lives in a neighborhood that is two-thirds white.

You’d be surprised - or maybe not - by how many of the black radical crowd and even rap stars who make their living on a image of being hood rats are from upper middle class backgrounds, or have gone through the best public or private schools in their areas, or even how many of them (like Obama) have a white parent.
A lot of it is an image thing. I think black intellectuals should look long and hard at a culture that exalts the angry, violent thug and his lower class behavior and tastes to such an extent that blacks who aren’t from that background have to pretend that they are just to be able to consider themselves “truly black.” Very bizarre.
I do think some of it, too, is fostered by the white entertainment industry, which promotes this image.
Osama Obama lied when he said Wright was a victim of racism and that’s why he’s so angry. Wright is nothing more than a fraud and a hustler just like his disciple Obama.
Wright had enormous opportunities!
Try my husbands: Born in Appalachia to a cancer-ridden mother, sickly siblings and a coal miner father who died when my husband was 13.
He went to work because there was no help for it.
He would have loved Wright’s opportunities.
My deceased father, a hard-working white farmer, never wore a $300 suit or a $200 pair of shoes. Can the Rev. Wright say that? I’m sick of the race pimps, who have had it much better than many whites in this country, constantly moaning about their circumstances.
I’m sure Jerry Wright thinks that when the revolution comes, and the blacks have killed off all the whites, they will need HIM to be their leader.
His maternal Grandfather, Hamilton M. Henderson was also a Baptist preacher (per 1930 census) and his Grandmother, Mamie was a teacher in 1920. Hardly downtrodden and underprivileged.
I "knew it" when I saw the picture of Wright with Clinton ...
Wright and his ilk can sell hatred and then go back to their tony neighborhood, and let the poor and ignorant suffer the consequences. I don't believe that Obama truly believes that AIDS was created by the government. It is his uneducated fellow churchgoer who dies of a disease that could be treated sooner if they had gone to the doctor who suffers, having been fed the idea that doctors can't be trusted.
yet he had the cahonnies enough and the pride enough and the patriotism enough to quit school, and join the Navy for WW2.....he served his country well, married, worked at a low paying jobs, worked second jobs, and raised a good family....none of his children are poor, drugged, drunk, welfare junkies or cheats and liars.....we pay taxes and we contribute to society....
the wealth of a man.......
I am just sick of this crap.....
add to freeper-eze..... "TWP"....typical white person

I think Wright, Obama and many other successful blacks harbor “black guilt”. It is akin to “survivors guilt”. They feel guilty that they have succeeded and that so many other blacks have not, so they preach victimhood in order to fit within their culture. Ironically their words keep alive the myth of discrimination and undermines the truth that opportunities are available to everyone.
It was in our local paper on Saturday that the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. is scheduled to address members of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church on April 13. That’s in Norfolk, VA. Someone (not me!) should go check it out.

The Democrat theory practiced to the full extreme by these racist leaders: Keep the population feeling down-trodden, make it appear you are the only one who can help them, keep them angry at any other group (i.e. government or whites) for any reason so they only will follow you and listen to you. Keep them fired up, continue to give them the idea that they are miserable and have had a miserable life, and that you alone understand their plight. Don’t let them feel they can ever succeed and overcome the problems in their past. That approach keeps them in your control, dependent on your advice, and gives you power.
Same with those promoting other radical causes around the world. (Ahem.)
Rev.Wright actually looks white to me, as well. Since we are judging people on the basis of the color of their skin, you know.
Wright is scheduled to give a sermon at a big church in Hampton,VA in April. Hope someone is there to record it.
