My debate with an idiotic reader
WorldNetDaily ^ | 3/26/2008 | Burt Prelutsky

A while back, I wrote an article in which I pointed out that for over 20 years Barack Obama has attended Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, whose minister, as we all know all too well, is a vicious hatemonger, and which recently bestowed its highest honor on none other than the legendary anti-Semite, Louis Farrakhan.

Among the many e-mails I received was one from a black man in New Jersey. He identified himself as a successful entrepreneur in his mid-30s. The tone of his remarks was reasonable and he seemed to be well-educated, but by the time we had had six or eight exchanges, he'd managed to convince me he was an idiot. Let us call him Mr. Christopher.

It was his contention that unless the Democrats made Sen. Obama their presidential nominee, it would destroy the party. I told him that although he was very much mistaken, I, personally, wished he weren't. The way I see it, the Democrats have been doing their best to destroy America for the past three decades, and it's high time they got a taste of their own medicine.

So your point is what? Whites are not the only racists living in the United States Of America? That Blacks have bigoted points of view? Would you care to state why you think that is?

Calling him an idiotic reader wasn’t too smart either. We can try to convince the other side that they’re wrong without calling them names. “Mr. Christopher” may very well read this article. Oh well.

If the GOP plays its cards right, we really could pick up a good many black voters. The Dems need that demographic to ever win any election and if we pick up support we get stronger, they get weaker and it's a real yummy for us.

I don't especially think McCain is the guy who will do it, but listing out the long Democrat history of bigotry and oppression would be a good idea. Challenge the media: "The GOP is racist? Give me an example. Tell me how the GOP shows its bigotry. I don't think you have anything."

From the article:

However, if Mr. Obama were to win, I fear that a great many conservative politicians who lack my intestinal fortitude would bite their tongues rather than risk being branded a racist."

Should be amended to:

However, if Mr. Obama were to win, I fear that a great many conservative politicians American sheep who lack my intestinal fortitude would bite their tongues vote for Obama rather than risk being branded a racist."

There, much better...

"Otherwise, why would a black man with only two years in the U.S. Senate be doing so well in the primary elections?"

What does Obama's mom think about this?

Thanks for posting. The idea of a columnist getting into a debate with a reader, and then publicly displaying his version of the argument while labeling the person he was debating with an idiot is wrong on several levels.

However; I wonder if such a debate took place anywhere except in the author’s mind and the whole premise was just to set the stage for the author to wheel out his arguments.

All of that being said, I thought the author repeated many great points and for the most part his arugments were one of the better summations of why African Americans should look favorably on the GOP that I have seen to date.

Whether or not the person with which he was debating was real or fictional is mostly moot in that the author did a good job of accurately capturing the mood and spirit of the most public sentiments expressed by the African American community in today’s media while presenting well thought out responses.

So your point is what?

Do you believe that everyone who posts an article here has an insidious agenda? I find that most simply post articles they find interesting simply to encourage debate and discussion.

My point was to post an article for discussion. Everyone has a bias, a worldview, a way in which they interpret facts. I think the article speaks for itself, so I’m not going to put myself in place of the author and explain what his points are; you’ll have to contact him.

Any black who has a bigoted view does so because they have been forced into distemper by the evil white oppressors, who not only control the banking system, the housing market, the job market, the stock market and the fruit market on the corner, they also (through their use of the Illudium Q-36 space modulater) control the emotional well-being and personal biases of every person of color within the boundaries of the United States. This is well documented in the “Whogivesacrap Journal.” I am glad you asked that question. I’m sure you are, too.
