TAMPA, Fla. -- In the past two weeks, three female teachers have been arrested in the Tampa, Fla., area, accused of having sex with male students.
First came the arrest of a middle school math teacher, Stephanie Ragusa, 28. She was charged with having sex with a 14-year-old, authorities said.
Investigators monitored phone calls between teacher and student in which Ragusa allegedly acknowledged having sex with the boy.
Last Thursday, high school honors English teacher Mary Jo Spack, 45, also was arrested. She is accused of meeting a 17- and an 18-year-old student at a liquor store and leading them to a motel room, where more students allegedly joined the party.
Spack was reportedly overheard having sex with one teen in the shower, police said.
"I just can't believe it's happening," said one unidentified Tampa-area parent. "I don't know what to think, or what's going through their heads."
And on Monday night, substitute teacher Lisa Marinelli, 40, a married mother of two, was arrested by sheriff's deputies and charged with unlawful sex with a minor. The 17-year-old victim told detectives he had sex with Marinelli 10 times. Authorities said they believe the boy.
"There's phone records, the text messages, the underwear, their statements," said Pasco County sheriff's detective Michelle March.
The arrests stirred memories of another notorious Tampa teacher, Debra Lafave. In June 2004, the middle school teacher was arrested for having sex with a 14-year-old male student in her car, her condo and her classroom.
The combination of Lafave's pinup girl looks and the young age of her victim made the story an instant national sensation.
Therapist Karen Duncan specializes in treating sexually abused women and children. She believes it's not that female teachers are abusing their students more frequently, but rather we are more aware of it when the crime happens.
"That the cultural belief, you know, that boys can't be victims, therefore females can't be offenders, has been starting to be challenged (more) now than it was 30 years ago," she said.

I know what she is trying to say, but this sentence reads very poorly. Do people actually speak this way?
Stupid females. (Not for the sentence, for the sex with kids while in an authoritative role, although the sentence is pretty bad.)

There’s gotta be something in the water in Florida............. Nahhh, it don’t work with my wife.
I’ve known six males and four females that became sexually active (willingly) with adults while they were between 12 and 15.
Every one of them is mentally/emotionally F-ed up.
Ranges from depression to drug/alcohol problems to domestic abuse to chronic adultery and on and on with every permutation.
I don’t count two males and one female that committed suicide before they turned 24.
It’s a small sample, I know. Still, 100% of them being F-ed up is pretty impressive IMO.

Call me a right-wing but I truly believe the porn culture becoming so accepted in our sick society leads to this increase in immoral stature being thought acceptable. The students become objects for the immoral to use in self gratification.

Well, thirty years ago we would have had the underwear and their statements. And I don’t know that the underwear would have done much good back then.
Also, I DO think it is happening much more than it used to. Our culture is considerably coursened in the last few decades. It is really a different world with a different attitude towards sex, homosexuality and sexual deviancy. Although males that have a taste for the flesh of minor boys seem to be vilified more than ever, the rest seems to be one big party.

I would imagine any kid running up to puberty and beyond would have a hard time concentrating in her class.

I have no data to refute her, nor does she offer any data, but I absolutely do not believe that this has been going on forever.
This could have happened on extremely rare occasions many years ago, but it has not been until the last 35-40 years that a sizeable portion of the female population has changed dramatically in its attitude toward sexual mores. It is astounding to me to see how rapidly our culture has descended since it cheapened the role of women.
A woman was once placed on a pedestal by the majority of men in society. Thanks to the feminist message and to the suseptibility of a large number of women to its dismantling of family values, there is nothing sacred anymore, least of all motherhood and female dignity.

When I was in high school, I knew of one female teacher who used to bribe the male athletes to have sex with her, I knew of one male teacher who had sex with female students (probably a few others, but I didn’t know for sure), and one male teacher who invited boys over to his pool all the time (the teacher was openly gay) and had them steal his Corvette and remove the engine so that he could get a new engine from the insurance company, he also was paying for the college education of one gay football player. I also knew that the Catholic priest was getting the acolyte class drunk on communion wine and molesting them. It was all true, my dad was the desk sergeant at the police station, and the rest came from the son of the superintendent of schools.
