Iranians in Germany to visit Auschwitz

Thirty Iranian expatriates living in Berlin will visit Auschwitz in April.

The ex-pats want to show Iran's president, who has denied the scope of the Holocaust, that they have no doubt about the facts of the Holocaust, "the most massive, industrialized extermination in the 20th century," a statement by organizers said.

The trip, from April 11 to 14, is sponsored by the Iranian Dialog Circle of Berlin and the Berlin educational branch of the Heinrich-Böll Foundation, which is associated with Germany's Green Party. The group also will meet with the daughter of an Auschwitz survivor in Krakow and with the leadership of the Krakow Jewish community.

The group said this week that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's questioning of the Holocaust and threatening of Israel, "has introduced a new expression of anti-Semitism onto the stage of international politics."

Iranians are associated with such statements "against their will," the statement said. "That is why many Iranians living abroad, for whom it is easier to counter these false statements about history, consider it their moral and democratic duty to show the public that they do not endorse the policy and ideology of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

I have been to visit Bergen-Belsen and Dachau. To see those places is something that is never forgotten. I will never figure out how one human can do that to another.

If they’re going to Germany to visit Auschwitz, they’ve got a beef with their travel agent.... Would I book a plane to Detroit to visit the Grand Canyon?

They’re German Iranians traveling to Auschwitz.

The story says they are ex-pats living in Berlin. It’s almost a straight shot from Berlin to Krakow, maybe 4-5 hours on a tour bus.

That’s what I get from letting the headline take over the “story.” My bad.

Sincere thanks and appreciation to these brave Iranians but a word or warning, “Watch your heads”.

I know what you mean. Done the same myself, sometimes the headline is too good to pass up.

I will never figure out how one human can do that to another.

It isn't so difficult to figure out; all that is required is a widespread, power-backed propaganda campaign insisting that certain persons are "less than"; that their humanity is in some way subservient to the "needs" of others.

We are not so holy.

We have not so completely repudiated Adolf's atrocities as to cut ourselves off from indulging in atrocities of our own. Indeed, in our own time, we have surpassed even Hitler's greatest hopes for success in removing "the least of these" from among the midst of his countrymen. Hitler destroyed millions; we have destroyed tens of millions.

We have so successfully waged a holocaust of our own that the flood tide of blood has risen to our very necks. It swirls about us and cries out for justice to the very Throne of Heaven, and to him that sits upon it.

Compared to us, Adolf Hitler was small-time.

Be assured of this: Hitler himself will arise at The Judgement and condemn us. He will stand and judge us for our hypocrisy of condemning him while perpetrating a far more egregious evil.

I visited Dachau last fall. I highly recommend it for anyone who will be in the Munich area. They have English tours, which is very nice (some historical places in Germany don’t have many English tours, if at all). Check out their website (they have an English version, too). Thanks for mentioning Bergen-Belsen, although I doubt I will be able to visit (too much paperwork).

Compared to us, Adolf Hitler was small-time.

Come now, get a grip on reality. We are not perfect and we've had some bad actors of our own but were nothing but small fry and nothing that even comes close to Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao etc.

I have been to visit Bergen-Belsen and Dachau. To see those places is something that is never forgotten.

I remeber back in the early 70's my dad was stationed in Germany. We drove to Dachau to see the concentration camp. When my dad stoped an old grey bearded German who said he was from from there to ask for directions the old German replied "Concentration camp? What concentration camp?"

You're right, not a sight to be forgotten. It was a dreart overcast day when we went which added to the mood.

I would be interested to know what the Iranians have to say about how the Zionist Jews misbehaved so badly that Germans had no choice other than to resort to the Holocaust........

Yeah, exactly my thoughts: field research for the upcoming Iranian/Hezbollah “Wipe the Jews off of the Face of the Earth” project.

Mainly, but not exclusively.

Some continue to use catch-phrases like “quality of life” as bases for justifying other insidious evils.
