Oceanside police said yesterday that the driver's door window of an off-duty San Diego police officer's Mercury sedan was shattered after he shot a 27-year-old woman and her 8-year-old son in a traffic confrontation.
Capt. Tom Aguigui declined to say how investigators think the window was broken.
In an interview Tuesday, however, Aguigui said police think Officer Frank White fired at Rachel Silva's Honda from inside his car. White's wife was a passenger in his car at the time.
At the news conference, Aguigui said there were five bullet holes in Silva's car: four in the windshield and one in the window of the front passenger's door.
The shooting occurred March 15 in the parking lot of the Lowe's store on Old Grove Road near state Route 76 in Oceanside. It was the culmination of an apparent road-rage incident, police have said.
Silva's 8-year-old son was shot once in the left leg. Silva was struck twice in the upper right arm. Both have been released from a hospital.
At yesterday's news conference, Oceanside police provided few other new details. They said they recovered a handgun belonging to White at the scene. Aguigui declined to say whether the gun is White's service weapon.
Aguigui said police have interviewed eyewitnesses, but he would not reveal what they reported seeing. He added that police are interested in talking to anyone else who was there.

Attorney: Driver shot by cop was no threat
CA: Off-duty SDPD officer identified in alleged road rage shooting
Pretty crack team of investigators on this case. The lady and kid will be looking at hard time by the time their finished.
The slow trickle of info on this is concerning.
Don’t worry they will think up a story to justify the cop. They always do. Some stories are just harder to come up with.
The police are waiting to interview the cop’s wife. Presently, she can’t hear.
Huh?
An off-duty cop, driving with his wife in the car, for some reason opens up on another car... THROUGH HIS OWN CLOSED WINDOW.
That other car has a woman and a child in it .. and the off-duty cop hits them both ... the child accidently (it seems)
This comes under the category of, WTF ?
their = investigators
It's two words: "They are"
In writing "They're" is an acceptable contraction. Never "their"
Your correct!
lol
WTF?
Well, you know, the lefties tell us that only cops and military should be trusted with firearms.
Exactly why I get disturbed by some of these stories. I support our folks wearing the badge but they are not above the law and are public servants. They are our employees but for some they think they are above the law, and many are mere additional tax collectors, truth be told.
SOME aren't paying attention. .... or remember .... if indeed it was ever leraned at all.
English (basic)
Althought many posters on this site absolutely BUTCHER the use of "their", "there", and "they're".
I couldn't find "leraned" in my dictionary. I do think that I understand the meaning you intended.
My personal favorite is “lose” vs “loose”.
We need to all learn from you’re example. For those whom don’t think sew, their wrong.
This is hugh. I’m series.
Is their a point to your post?
