What’s going to lead to a true nanny state is people refusing to take responsibility and take care of themselves, health care costs spiralling out of control, and people turning to government to save them from a health care mess. I agree a nanny state will come, I just disagree on the cause.

One would like to think that Wisconsinites WOULD be the last to desert the bastions on THAT point. I mean, taking away our beer, brats and cheese? Over our lifeless, cold bodies!

However, the enemy IS at the gate. The annual Brat Fest now caters to the “Candles, Sandals & Granola Crunchers” with VEGETARIAN brats. Blasphemy!

That’s a good point. You should’ve made it earlier to avoid the confusion, LOL!

Good evening, timm22! I’m going to turn on all my lights in the house now! :-)

Good evening, GOP_Lady. If I wasn't so poor I'd join you in turning on the lights. But I'm with you in spirit!

I ride 30 minutes per day indoors when it’s below 50 degrees outside, and I ride about 1.5 hours per day (Brown Deer to Cedarburg and back - 20 miles) when it’s above 50, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to let Doyle claim any credit or glory for my efforts.

Ugh. Hopefully they are only served at the remotest, least inviting corners of the festival. I'm all for tolerance and inclusion, but some things are just too much.

My wife is from Wisconsin. We visited last summer for a family reunion. I would not live there if you paid me. They have a great football facility in Green Bay and make Trek bicycles there, other than that, I have no desire to live there. After the frigid winter they have had, my wife is so glad to live here in the sunny south. It was 76 here today.

Perhaps Gov. Doyle could begin by reducing his fat-headed, socialist thinking, especially as regards personal defense with concealed firearms.

Too much beer, cheese, and bratwurst.

Staying indoors too much in the winter so lack of exercise

But I should talk. We have world class whales here. And kids with blubber. I'm sure Florida is way above the Medicare/Medicaid norm for diabetes cases.

Wisconsin's residents are the 28th heaviest in the nation

So, we're below the median in weight, but Doyle's still worried about it.

On the other hand, when we compare combined state and local tax burdens, we're number 7, but Doyle is not inclined to do anything about that, except try to make us number 1.

Do they have a “bacon” version of those? Or maybe “chocolate cake donut”?

Good for you. I manage a Garden Center. I’m on my feet all day long, all year long. I’ve always been an “outdoor” type, too, rain or shine, I don’t care.

I garden organically and we eat pretty well, except for a few brats now and then. I hunt, I fish, I hike, I use my state parks more than most...because I pay for them, d@mmit!

I’m not giving Doyle any credit for my efforts, either.

And I don’t live this way because someone TOLD me to; it’s just a simple, old-fashioned life.

The more these Nannys tell me what to do, the less I want to do it. I WANT to throw a bottle in the trash, versus the recycle bin. I WANT to eat at McDonald’s and not just have a salad. I WANT to drink non-Fair Trade Coffee. The last thing I’m going to ask for prior to the Firing Squad is a Twinkie, LOL!

I think there’s going to be a HUGE backlash to all of this Nanny state cr@p. I hope I’m still here to participate in the Revolution. :)

So apparently I have to get fat now just to spite Doyle.
