They expected a million and got 2.7 million.
The 10 million illegals estimate used recently is now several years old. If another amnesty were granted, the number applying would probably be closer to 20 million than 10 million.
No doubt. The 2005 Bear-Stearns Report estimated that there were 20 million.
I still believe another amnesty, plus the chain migration those millions would take advantage of to bring in more, would result in those who came here illegally and were amnestied, would result in a greater number of entrants than the legal entrants for the same 20 or so year period.
Absolutely. And that would be on top of the normal, annual LEGAL immigration numbers. It would more than triple regular immigration numbers, which is why this country would be finished as we know it once an amnesty was signed. It would be game, set, and match for this nation.
But whichever is greater, it is out-of-control and it is difficult to see how anyone would support this insanity unless they deliberately wanted to see this nations character changed forever, or they are making handsome profits off the new immigrants, legal and illegal, and their vision doesnt extend beyond their next P&L statement
There has been a confluence of interests among disparate groups. The US Chamber of Commerce [profit], labor unions [members], Dem party [voters], Catholic Church [members], La Raza [political influence], ACLU [destruction of American values], etc. could care less about the long term impact of an immigration policy that is out of control--the American people be damned.
Amnesty will hasten the process, but if we keep the same legal immigration policies, it really won't matter if there is an amnesty or not.
“Amnesty will hasten the process, but if we keep the same legal immigration policies, it really won’t matter if there is an amnesty or not.”
I think the best chance to defeat another amnesty push might lay in the House, with Republicans teaming with the 40 or so Blue Dog Democrats. Or maybe they could still filibuster in the Senate.
But any change in legal immigration is a ways off. Once, in an early debate, Tancredo mentioned reducing it and the MSM reaction was as if he were some vile hater and racist for even suggesting it. And, again, no one talks numbers any more. Just simple discussion of how the legal numbers have mushroomed over the past fifteen to twenty years might wake up a few more citizens.
