N.Korea Warns Against Pre-Emptive Strike

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea's official news agency warned South Korea Sunday that the country's military would not "sit idle" until "warmongers" launched a pre-emptive strike.

"Everything will be in ashes, not just a sea of fire, if our advanced pre-emptive strike once begins," the North's Korean Central News agency said.

The harsh rhetoric from an unidentified KCNA military commentator also warned that the North will suspend all scheduled inter-Korean dialogue unless Seoul retracts and apologizes for a remark by the new head of the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Kim Tae-young told a parliamentary hearing Wednesday the military would strike a suspected North Korean nuclear weapons site if Pyongyang attempts to attack the South with atomic bombs.

This is N.K.-ish way of saying they are justified in launching a pre-emptive strike as a pre-emption to a pre-emptive strike, if they believe they must act pre-emptively to pre-empt S.Korea's pre-emptive strike.

It's either strutting and sabre-rattling, or laying the groundwork for justifying a nuclear attack. Probably the former.

At least they know that they won’t be attacked at night. It’s so dark in NK, nobody would know what to hit.

N.Korea is a chi-com problem. The chi-coms support them, let the chi-coms deal with ALL the problems that are N. Korea.
Let china feed and cloth them. Let the Chi-coms be used by the North koreans.
To hell with them both.

I believe this idiot gets a low self esteem and feels the need to make some noise when he feels like no one is paying much attention to him.

The pedophile Kim Jong make me Ill is out of bluster. He and his cohorts are dying a long slow painful death of their own making. No one is scared of North Korea though they can shell out a lot of death to innocent people before their own destruction.

Personally I am sick of them Fence them off and be done with them.

Very practical advice in the days of George Washington when power was projected overseas by the line of battle.

Not very practical advice in the modern era when power is projected overseas by the the ICBM.

Hey Guys I watched this yesterday and it is amazing. These guys basically brought hidden cameras into north korea and toured... or were toured by their govt. Each segment is about 5 minutes and there are 14 in all. Worth seeing how absolutely F-ed up that country is. I mean it is like it is on another planet.

I think they could lob a nuke maybe in to Alaska, not really knowing where it would go off. which would cause them to get a serious butt kicking.
What happens if the North Govt. folds? The majority of problem is china and south korea.
Much larger border with china than s. korea.
Would make reintegrating east europe look easy.

Yes. Now, in 2008.

What will be the situation in 10 years in 2018?

In 480 BC, at the Battle of Salamis, the cutting edge technology of Mediterranean sea power was the war galley.

Over one thousand years later in 1571 AD, at the Battle of Lepanto, the cutting edge technology of Mediterranean sea power was still the war galley.

In 1935, the cutting edge technology of U.S. air power were Curtis Sparrowhawks carried aboard dirigibles.

Ten years later, in 1945, the cutting edge technology of U.S. air power was the Enola Gay and what it carried.

The era when military technology remained the same from month to month, from year to year, from decade to decade, from century to century or even from millennium to millennium is long over.

In the modern era, all that is needed for your supposedly secure world to be turned completely upside down is to open the morning paper.

North Korea is most definitely OUR problem because its technological capability to drop a nuclear warhead on downtown Seattle is only one headline away.

So far, in the headlines, we have been lucky:

Wednesday, July 5, 2006: ..... U.S. officials: North Korea tests long-range missile ...... The Taepodong-2 missile, which some analysts believed capable of hitting the western United States, failed after about 40 seconds, U.S. officials said. ......... "It's very difficult technology. They very clearly have not mastered it," he said. "Most estimates are they will not master it for another 10 years."

The next front page headline article regarding the Taepodong-3 could read:

"October 17, 2011: ..... U.S. officials: North Korea successfully tests long-range missile ...... The Taepodong-3 missile, a three stage version of the Taepodong-2, which analysts have concluded is capable of hitting the western United States, performed flawlessly, U.S. officials said. ......... "It's very difficult technology. However, they have certainly mastered it," he said. "Most estimates had previously predicted that they would not master it for another 10 years."
