SYRIAN Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said overnight Damascus is prepared for all scenarios in its worsening relationship with Washington, including the use of US military force.
"A prudent person must make all his calculations, especially when we have to deal with an administration which knows how to strike but does not know how to withdraw," Mr Muallem said at the end of an Arab summit in Damascus.
He was referring to Iraq where almost 160,000 American troops are stationed five years after invading the country to overthrow president Saddam Hussein. More than 4000 US soldiers have died since.

Ping.
an administration which knows how to strike but does not know how to withdraw,
I`m guessing they`ve all finished and signed their last Will and testaments ?
No, no they are not.
sounds like chavez and kim jong il are spreading the “oh no!!! the U.S is gonna get us” fever.
It is typical posturing. The fools deep, deep down in their sick Arab minds know they are no more ready for what we may decide to do than they are ready for the 72 imaginary virigns they want to believe await them. FOOLS! One Arab summit, visited by 72 cruise missles, or one alliance conference with Iran visited by two bunker busters, and these fools are ash and smoke, Ready? Yeah, just A rab posturing. Oh my, how I wish sinkEmperor clinton had not been in control of the missles up a camel’s butt! These fools think America IS the feckless bill clinton and George Steponallof us James Car viles. We’re gonna have to kill them now, to change A Rab minds. And the Rodham rodent or Barry HUSSEIN Obama promises more of the same.
Lately, gossip out of the Pentagon and intelligence circles is suggesting Syria is a pawn of Iran, and may be afraid of taking a fall for Iran’s behavior in Iraq.
I’d appreciate anyone who could comment on what might be going on.
Did they manage to squeeze in the fact that Vice President Cheney used to be at the helm of Halliburton (a decade ago)? Looks like they were going through all the talking points.
No they are not at all, despite what the cheering media says.
According to Strafor, Syria is quaking in its boots knowing that for all the money they spent on Russian anti-aircraft radars and things, the Israelis (with US help) went right in and pounded the nuclear facility without being detected AT ALL. All worthless, all the stuff they bought. They are sitting ducks, and they know it, and they know we know it.
If Syria gets into a fight with the USA, they’ll be facing not only F-15’s and F-16’s, but the new F-22A Raptor. The Syrian Air Force may not last very long against the stealthy and highly-manueverable F-22A.
The Syrians occupied Lebanon for about 30 years, so I can’t figure out what they’re complaining about. It “learned” how to withdraw only after it appeared that US military action against Syria was imminent.
We’re bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We’re coming in from the north, below their radar.
I don’t think Syria is the target of the US. Iran must be severely humbled first and foremost, if not utterly defeated with an end to the mullah theocracy.
Syria will get in line with pleasure after that happens.
Syria first is a bad idea.
And, no, Syria is not ready for the USAF, neither is Iran, especially with French, UK, Saudi, Jordanian and Egyptian political support and cover, logistic help from Turkey, bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a deadly Israeli air force curbing Syrian malevolence at the critical time.
I just have a feeling that the purpose of Cheney’s recent trip was not to say goodbye. But, I have disappointed by President Bush before.
Hey Bashar..Your shoelace is untied!
Syria has hired a road crew to come in and paint parking spaces on their brand new parking lot!?
“Our history, as a country, is that we can be extraordinarily kind, or equally ruthless.”
Kind, yes. Ruthless, no. We are too PC and afraid for the ROP. Don’t expect our government to be as heroic as the brave men and women they send to Iraq and Afghanistan. We have become a disunited nation consisting of many little groups, each with their own axe to grind. Hooray for multiculturalism.
