Back in '79/'80 I worked at Seabrook Station building the nuke - helping to build a strong free America! Never got a ticket for anything.

I still lived in MA back then and eleven years later I got a notice from the state of NH saying that I had an unpaid parking ticket from December '79 in Portsmith and furthermore that if I didn't pay up my license and registration in MA would be suspended.

Having no way to prove that I never got a ticket 11 years before, I gritted my teeth and paid up.

*snicker*

And you fell for that old ruse? I guess I can't blame you, I did one time too.

State of Florida sent me that exact same threat when I refused to pay a ticket I was innocent of when I lived in Michigan. My girlfriend's father at the time was a detective in the state police, I told him about the letter and he just laughed at me for believing that Michigan would go through all that work so that Florida could get a check. He said the only way they will get the money is if they pull you over again in the state and run a check, then you will be hauled in and forced to pay it, with interest. That was 20 years ago, I guess it has probably accrued nicely in that time...
