For the past several days I was questioning if this ad was even real because it wasn't listed on their site. This was just posted on Absolut's company blog in response to all the letters they've received.

No, why this ad never advocated the changing of borders or addressed any immigration issues. Not at all. It’s a vision of a more ideal time.

We have a variety of executions running in countries worldwide, and each is germane to that country and that population.
I think the Germans claimed something like that (and similarly offensive)...

I don’t drink vodka often. Nonetheless, when I do I will remember that there are other options on the market. No more Absolut for me.

” . . .a Mexican sensibility” ?
No, I’d say a Hispanic pandering.

The In An Absolut World advertising campaign invites consumers to visualize a world that appeals to them So....will they do an ad campaign for the U.S. showing millions of illegal immigrants streaming south across the border?
To: mnehrling
In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues. But it does all of the above.
Who do these greedy bums think they're fooling!

So they have no problem appealing to the imperialistic invasionist “sensibilities” of mexicans, in other words. How nice. Imagine, just imagine the outrage that would happen in THIS country if a business ran an ad showing a diced up map of Iraq with the words “United States of America” writting across it followed by some text that indicated that this was a favorable outcome. So now, reasonable mexicans should be outraged at the company for insinuating that they desire to take over a large portion of the US, just as we should be angry at the company for attempting to stoke those desires in order to sell a product.

“This particular ad, which ran in Mexico, was based upon historical perspectives and was created with a Mexican sensibility. In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues. Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal.”
What a bunch of crappola. “more ideal”....the freakin’ “Mexicans” never lived there!
“A Mexican sensibility”? At least they know what turns Mexicans on!
Look, as I said bedfore, They did it for one reason, because it sells....in Mexico. The ad is meant to appeal to what turns ‘em on. Sad, but true.

Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal. It does? I don't think that Mexico ever had the boundaries shown in the ad. They seem to be the ones promoted by MeCha (however it's spelled) in all of their Aztlan crap.
