LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- Metro police and firefighters are on the scene of a plane crash near Bowman Field. The aircraft is down in the 2600 block of Valetta Road near the Seneca Gardens neighborhood.
The 6-seater Cessna P210N went down shortly before 3 p.m. and police officials tell us it narrowly missed a house in the residential neighborhood.
Emergency crews pulled two people from the wreckage. They were taken to the hospital. No word yet on their condition.
We have a crew on the scene and we'll have the latest coming up on WAVE 3 News.

Apparently this plane went down just a few hundred feet from Bowman Field, in eastern Louisville. Taylorsville Road is currently shut down because of the crash.

I always find it interesting... A small plane crashes and it gets huge attention, sometimes nationwide.
A car crashes every hour and kills many, but it barely makes the local news.
Of course, having owned 3 planes, including a C172, it is of interest to me.

Is that 210 in Argentina? It's a pressurized one. FGL on the engine and vacuum pump!

Thanks. Have only been back in KY for 6 months, and I’m still trying to figure out which news to watch.

I just saw an update on TV. Apparently the initial reports of two people onboard were incorrect. The only person on the plane was the pilot, 68-year-old Richard Shenk of Basalt, Colorado.
He went down about 300 feet short of the runway at Bowman Field, missing the top of a house by just a few feet. The plane caught on fire after crashing, but neighbors managed to use garden hoses to control the flames long enough for emergency crews to arrive and pull Shenk out of the wreck. He is now in serious condition at University Hospital with severe burns.

I used ot fly in and out of Bowman a few years back. Moved my personal flight ops to Clark County dure to traffic and a real long runway at clark county. plus clark county is uncontrolled, which was nice some times. A lot less traffic.
A resident says that she was not surpised as there is so much traffic. I think some of the safes pilots I’ve ever met fly out of Bowman airplane patch.

I use to fly N20BK from Bowman to Brunswick county in NC from there.
But I guess eventually something is bound to happen.
