BAGHDAD - The U.S. military says the largest cache of armour-piercing roadside bombs known as explosively formed penetrators has been found south of Baghdad.
A statement says Iraqi troops acting on a tip Wednesday found more than 1,000 bomb components in a six-ton truck in a garage in the town of Qassim. American commanders allege that the EFPs come from Iran.
Tehran denies the allegations.
The military says the cache included more than 1,360 kilograms of explosives, multiple 107 mm rockets and stands along with other munitions.
Sunday's statement says the cache has been moved to the nearby city of Hillah, which is about 95 kilometres south of Baghdad.
The powerful bombs have killed hundreds of American forces.
ping
For every Iranian bomb we find we should send one of our own back to them.
Why are we waiting?
a very good question.
Give them back to Iran as their own troop vehicles go by at the border.
I take it these EFPs must be IEDs on crack and steroids. Thank God they found them.
BTTT!
Imagine if PravdABDNC cared about this??
Pray for W and Our Troops
Yep. The worst of the worst.
And come from Iran.
Need to take care of Sadr and his goons first. Seems likely that will occur in the next few weeks, likely at the same time that Hizbollah launches their “revenge” attacks on Israel for offing Mugniyah. Supposedly, Sadr is readying Sadr City as the location for his last stand. Probably thinks it’ll end in another “they’re bombing the holy shrines” stalemate.
What he’s not prepared for, and what he wasn’t prepared for during last week’s clashes, is that “American occupiers” doesn’t rally the troops so well when it’s born and bred Iraqi soldiers coming in after him and his goons. Sadr and his goons are facing off against American-trained, American-armed, and America-friendly battle hardened veterans.
To them, we aren’t occupiers, we’re comrades. Because they weren’t just trained by Americans, they trained with Americans. Together, American and Iraqi soldiers have bled, fought, and died to take back their city and their country. And they’re not about to let some two-bit Iranian tool turn back the clock on all of the progress that’s been made and that has cost so much Iraqi and American blood to achieve.
So, that’s why we’ve been waiting. So, that when the day finally comes, an America-friendly Iraq will be able to stand on its own, and the tools of Iran that will surely strike out, will not be able to tear Iraq apart.
“So, that when the day finally comes, an America-friendly Iraq will be able to stand on its own....”
As long as that day is before January 20, 2009 if Hillary or Obama gets elected. Otherwise, it will be Vietnam all over again.
Too much politics in this war. More carpet bombing needs to be done even if some innocents were killed. Thousands of our bravest continue to die.
Amen.
yes a concave copper disc extreme heat melts it and it will penetrate armor
