BUTTE, Mont. -- Barack Obama wants to make something clear: He loves America.
After a series of incidents that prompted questions about his patriotism, the Democratic presidential candidate is peppering speeches with explicit statements on his love of country.
"I love this country not because it's perfect but because we've always been able to move it closer to perfection," he told an audience in North Dakota.
And in Montana: "It's a country where ... I've seen ordinary Americans find justice, where I've seen progress made for working families who need leaders who are willing to stand up and fight for them. That is the country I love."
Obama also stirs crowds into a frenzy of cheering and clapping when he talks about treating military veterans with respect, of giving them the best possible equipment, of providing top-notch health care for the wounded.
"They have earned our respect," the Illinois senator exclaims.
Such patriotic statements could be an effort to reassure voters wondering about whether he truly loves the country.
First came questions about why he doesn't wear a flag lapel pin. Obama said he thinks true patriotism is demonstrated by a person's actions, not his lapel.

We could be headed closer to perfection if we could get rid of the RATS & people like Obama who want to tear this country down & turn it into the socialist utopia they want it to be.
He loves his country but where does he say he’s a patriot? Of course he loves his country because he knows he would have not gotten this far in any other country...but calling him a patriot?....No way!
“It’s a country where ... I’ve seen ordinary Americans find justice, (OJ SIMPSON)
where I’ve seen progress made for working families who need leaders who are willing to stand up and fight for them (JESSE JACKSON)
“They have earned our respect,” (NOW PUT DOWN YOUR WEAPONS AND GO HOME)
Yea, sure... ok..
“”I love this country not because it’s perfect but because we’ve always been able to move it closer to perfection,” he told an audience in North Dakota.”
Gotta love those progressives.
Always “progressing” towards “perfection.”
How about a more definitive "I love this country, which, despite the fact there is room for improvement, IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH AND HAS BEEN FOR 100 YEARS.
He can’t reaffirm something he hasn’t affirmed in the first place.
Yes, he probably recied the “shahada” and finished with “Allahu akbar!”
‘..Obama said he thinks true patriotism is demonstrated by a person’s actions,...’
hmm, ACTIONS like attending a Church, for 20 yrs, where the Pastor says ‘God Damn America’ or where a divisive philosophy is promoted?
I agree....very dangerous. Why aren’t more Americans attuned to this???
Is there any evidence in any of Wright’s “sermons” that he actually said “Kill Whitey!”? I have heard excepts of his hate speech where he shows he truly despises whites but not those direct words. If the cartoon is indeed true, bad for Obama but if Wright never said those words, the power of the cartoon is greatly diminished, unfortunately.
We could move “closer to perfection” if we could deport and/or exile at least 10 million Demagogues right away.
The Ancient Greeks had a very good idea (even if they didn’t always use it wisely), to be able to exile people harmful to the state. They should have left Socrates alone, but if they’d had lying huckster charlatans like Obambi and Shrillary it would have been a very good idea to send them into exile for 10 years (or more).
It’s amazing. I see stupid people everywhere.. Dumbing things down for decades didn’t help..
Obama’s Pledge: I refuse to pledge allegiances to any flag of any God damn country of KKK America populated with typical racist white guys. And to the socialist welfare programs from which I intend to create, one nation under the godless UN, with taxes for the rich and justice for us blacks and half-blacks.
I can only agree, he IS dangerous. I can’t imagine our country under this angry but very charismatic mulatto. It’s scary to me.
