Clinton Calls on Bush to Boycott Olympic Opening Ceremony
ABC ^ | 04.07.08

Posted on 04/07/2008 5:34:31 PM PDT by Dr. Marten

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., is calling on President George W. Bush to boycott the opening ceremony at the Olympics this summer.

First reported on the
Drudge Report, Clinton's call for a boycott specifically cites China's reaction to recent violence in Tibet and inaction in Darfur.

"The violent clashes in Tibet and the failure of the Chinese government to use its full leverage with Sudan to stop the genocide in Darfur are opportunities for Presidential leadership," Clinton said in a written statement.

"These events underscore why I believe the Bush administration has been wrong to downplay human rights in its policy towards China. At this time, and in light of recent events, I believe President Bush should not plan on attending the opening ceremonies in Beijing, absent major changes by the Chinese government."

She should have called for a boycott of all that money she and her hubby received from the Chinese.

How would you like to be the future (if so) husband of Chelsea? That witch would be unbearable to deal with.

Someone should ask her if President Bill Clinton should have allowed himself to be showcased in Tienanmen square so soon after the brutal massacre?

I think they are voting for Obama this time through financial proxies. But they did give Hillary quite a bit through that Chinese dishwasher awhile back.

By Boycott she means don’t let the Athlete join the “Parade of Nations” before the start of Olympics. They simply stay in Hotels and not participate in the opening ceremony.

Evil witch hopes some “Yutes” to fall for this crap and cut into Obama’s base.

Hillary should do the right thing and return all of the Chicom contributions Clinton, Inc. took since 1992.

Didn't Carter boycott the 1980 Olympics? Didn't Carter basically ignore the Holocaust? Didn't Carter something like Darfur isn't genocide? Didn't Carter say something to the effect that Jews don't have the right to live as a free people? Didn't Carter ignore terrorists? Didn't Bill ignore Rwanda? Didn't Bill all but ignore terrorists?

Boycotts and ignoring ... this must be a Dem trait.

So, how many repeat threads should we endure in a 10 hour period during a fund raiser when we are trying to save/raise money to purchase bandwidth and software?

It always appears that when the appeal for funding goes forth that no one cares how many duplicates are posted and the search function is trashed as useless.

I give up.

Hmm..that seems like a fairly pointless gesture. As I recall the NHL players were the last to arrive and the first to leave the Winter Games...The NBA players participated as I recall but that’s just as bad...I’m not in favor of giving millionaires vacations at taxpayer expense...

I don’t give a rip about what Clinton thinks. But it wouldn’t bother me if a lot of countries would boycott these Olympics.... I’m doing my part- I don’t plan to watch ANY of the Olympic coverage.

Actually, I don’t favor a boycott at all. They have subsidized their athletes so much and built these games into such a monumental event for the Chinese, that it would hurt them worse to have the United States leave with the most Gold and Silver medals.

I find myself in agreement with Hillary......aaaarrrghhh.....feel pain and uncleanliness...

On the bright side, given the Hsu fund, will not this lead to more discussion of her “fabulism” since a honest politician is one who stays bought?

Thypical Clinton hypocrisy and very ungrateful behavior, after all the ChiComs built Mrs. Clinton a special travelling toilet for $25,000 for her use exclusively while her and her husband were in China during their reign as co-presidents, on top of all that campaign cash.

Fairly Pointless Gestures - I believe that is first Chapter in Liberal Do-Gooder Guide.

You see it doesn’t matter if any Law or tax payer funded program achieves desired goals. That is secondary. As a matter of fact it doesn’t even matter if it has exactly opposite effect. The ONLY thing that matters is that INTENTION was noble.

Now, Hillary’s only intention is to score with yutes how may have noble intentions. She is pure evil.

I hate the ChiComs as much as the next person having personally seen the abuses of totalitarianism. But boycotting the olympics is just stupid. Far better to protest the torch (as people are doing now) when we can get good media coverage in the free world rather than censored coverage in China. Boycotts just hurt the athletes and don’t advance the cause. Clinton’s ignorance of Carter’s folly shows she is unready to be President - and another example of her opportunism.

President George W. Bush was the first President to meet with the Dalai Lama.

What was Hillary's husband doing for eight years that kept him from doing that? Selling the ChiComs multiple warhead re-entry vehicle technology for campaign cash? Doing the same with the U.S.'s best ballistic missile guidance system technology? Shoving cigars up intern's twats?

If you answered "all of the above" you are a Bill and Hill fan and know them very well.

Ah, yes, sending a team to the Games but not to the Opening Ceremonies is the public policy equivalent of trying dope but not inhaling.
