Immigration agent Cory Voorhis was found not guilty of violating the law by accessing a confidential government database for political purposes providing information on illegal immigrants used in a campaign attack ad against now-Gov. Bill Ritter.
The federal courtroom was full, with some 50 supporters of Voorhis and members of the public.
The jury apparently rejected the prosecution's argument that they would have to find Voorhis guilty simply if he exceeded his authority in going on the National Crime Information Center computer to obtain information on illegal aliens who won plea bargains while Ritter was district attorney.
Voorhis admitted getting the information and providing it to the Bob Beauprez gubernatorial campaign. But his defense said Voorhis did nothing illegal because he had a good and legal purpose: Forcing change in a bad criminal justice policy.

Good. IMHO this was always a political prosecution. Still, the dragged his name through the mud and I’m sure cost him a ton of money.
Yes, I heard his legal bills could be $250K. Note in the story that it stated that the heroin-toting illegal immigrant that got plead down to Ag Trespass was later charged with raping an under age girl (but the Beauprez ad did not state that the charges were dropped). The article actually did not state that the girl who was raped was also an illegal immigrant and her family fled, leaving no witness.
Now, please - one of the many, many moral lawyers out there... offer your services to aid this agent to sue the LIVING DAYLIGHTS out of those who falsified testimony, etc. I also note that the Denver Lib-O-Twin Paper (the D Post and Rocky Mountain News are joined at the hip, with the RMN being only slightly less lib) failed to mention that a very popular radio talk host (Peter Boyles, KHOW 630) has been defending the agent for months, and probably played a strong part in getting the truth out. Peter did a superb job of exposing the utter vacuousness of the charges (along with the normal exposing of our vapid governor). Denver is only slightly less in N-space than Boulder, the place where you can kidnap/kill your own daughter and get away with it.
There was a booth at the last Denver Gun Show collecting money for his legal defense. I contributed, but did not have as much cash as I wanted to contribute.
His legal defense fund is at:

The mainstream media has been a disgrace with this story. Their reporting has been so faulty and so sparse that it has amounted to a lie. Thank goodness for Boyles and talk radio in general.
Thanks for mentioning that.
Boyles is on the radio now -- says the verdict came back very quick. I'm not surprised.
It was listening to Peter Boyles show when I was commuting from west of Golden to Colorado Springs that I first heard of this story. It should have been a national story, but as always the bad guy was in the wrong party.
I saw in previous articles that there were over 150 cases pled down to Agricultural Trespass while Ritter was DA. Also that this was well-known and defense attorneys would advise their clients to claim illegal immigrant status to get a better plea deal.
