What Clinton wishes she could say
Politico ^ | 4/13/08 | JOHN F. HARRIS & JIM VANDEHEI

Why, ask many Democrats and media commentators, won’t Hillary Rodham Clinton see the long odds against her, put her own ambitions aside, and gracefully embrace Barack Obama as the inevitable Democratic nominee?

Here is why: She and Bill Clinton both devoutly believe that Obama’s likely victory is a disaster-in-waiting. Naive Democrats just don’t see it. And a timid, pro-Obama press corps, in their view, won’t tell the story.

But Hillary Clinton won’t tell it, either.

A lot of coverage of the Clinton campaign supposes them to be in kitchen-sink mode — hurling every pot and pan, no matter the damage this might do to Obama as the likely Democratic nominee in the fall.

The Clinton's have spent years pandering to, exploiting, and fostering the lack of critical thinking and identity, victimization politics in their constituencies, and now they can't afford to bring up any of the obvious flaws in Obama's candidacy for that very reason. It's all so fitting...

If H wants the job she can get it if she goes hard right. Hard right. That's my opinion.

Republicans will also ruthlessly exploit openings that Clinton — in the genteel confines of an intraparty contest — never could

Yeah right --GOP will wimp out as usual

The Republicans sure have NOT helped themselves this year in distinguishing themselves from the destructive left. Seems RUSH called this one correctly in keeping the liberals fighting to the bitter end is what will keep hope alive for lord McCain.

Obama would be a disaster? Here’s one time I agree with the Clintons.

We spoke to unaffiliated Democratic lawmakers, veteran lobbyists, and campaign operatives who believe the rush of enthusiasm for Obama’s charisma and fresh face has inhibited sober appraisals of his potential weaknesses.

OK, Dems.

The ONE and ONLY POINT of having "superdelegates" was to prevent ONE situation from happening - this one.

Do the "superdelegates" have the stones to do their job?

I'm betting on "no", but we'll see.

We'll either see that they DO have the stones to avoid the November train wreck and risk short-term defections (and Denver mayhem) by O'bama supporters, or we'll see that they DON'T, and thereby render the whole theory of "superdelegates" pointless.

More popcorn, please.

“whether he once backed a total ban on handguns (he says no”

Let him refute this:

http://www.nraila.org/Issues/Articles/Read.aspx?id=286&issue=042

excerpts:

“Cook County prosecutors ultimately declared DeMar’s use of a firearm to be justified. But Wilmette village officials pressed nonetheless to prosecute him for illegal possession of his handgun—a charge punishable by a huge fine and jail time. A town official was quoted in Reason magazine saying, “We need to set the example that we’re trying to protect our citizens.” And he said, DeMar—by possessing a legally purchased handgun—“is endangering innocent civilians.”...The outcry of the Illinois public was heard all the way to the state capitol.

As a result, the Illinois House and Senate passed legislation in May 2004 to protect citizens who use handguns in self-defense in their homes or businesses despite local handgun bans.

The House accepted the DeMar self-defense bill by a vote of 86-25 and the Senate moved the legislation on a 38-20 vote.

And here lies the seminal moment for state Senator Barack Obama. When Obama turned thumbs down on the bill, he voted against the most basic element of the Second Amendment— the right of defense of self and family— the reason that millions of Americans own firearms.

When the governor vetoed the bill, Obama once again voted against a citizen’s right to self-defense. Despite his vote, the veto override passed the Senate and the House by overwhelming majorities, thereby enacting this bill into law.”

Here is the proof of where the obamama stands on us bitter hicks having guns.

bookmark this site for use until this man is sent packing.
It's something he cannot deny...I would love to see him spin this...

We need to email this to all the regulars - Rush, Hannity etc

...the right-wing freak show — that network of operatives and commentators working mostly outside of the mainstream media...

What kind of writing journalism is that? That sounds like something that would appear on HuffPo or DU, not a serious source of politics.

“The Republicans sure have NOT helped themselves this year in distinguishing themselves from the destructive left.”

Yeah, but they don't have to do much. The destructive left does the Republicans work for them. Obama was mentored by the old radical black nationalist, Jeremiah Wright.

Exactly - if you jump into a cat fight, they'll just turn on you - better to let themselves bite and scratch each other to pieces and when the fight is over, THEN you take on the one left standing. Which is exactly what McCain has stated as his strategy - which sounds like wise strategery to me.

As it is, all the asinine chaos these clowns are engulfed in showcases just how unable they are to manage even a primary campaign within their own ranks.

Sooner or later, people have got to ask themselves: "Are these the people we can count on to manage the country?"

Voter interviews reveal widespread unease with minor and seemingly irrelevant questions

Talk about your elitism.

How "elite" do you have to be to think that "widespread voter unease" about something doesn't make it major, or relevant?

Depends on how badly McC wants it. He’s got a very wicked temper and mean streak. Of course, H’s targets tend to get dead.

The [conservative] freak show has already signaled its early lines of attack on Obama. Polls show a significant percentage of Americans believe — falsely — that he is a Muslim.

Why would Americans come to that false conclusion?

Perhaps because no one has explained his "radioactive" association with a Kenyan jihadist?
Because he is descended from African Arabs?
Because of his Muslim upbringing in Indonesia?
Because his biologic father and stepfather were practicing Muslims?
Because his pastor hates America and welcomes Muslims into his faux Christian church?
Because of his patent disdain for religious Christians?

"Rip off the duct tape and here is what they would say: Obama has serious problems with Jewish voters (goodbye Florida), working-class whites (goodbye Ohio) and Hispanics (goodbye, New Mexico)."

That's certainly what I'm hoping for, and more: that Snob-ama's candidacy gets swept into the dustbin of history in a landslide against him of historic proportions. Yes, I know the dangers of a McCain victory, but we are at war and we cannot afford an Obambi presidency.

The ‘superdelegate’ system might stave off a McGovern or a Eugene McCarthy type of insurgency from the left, but throw race into the mix and suddenly the Demagogues risk ripping their party to pieces if they block the “will of the voters” — I love the dilemma faced by the Demagogues because either horn is a disaster for them.

Once again, they have implemented something because it "felt" right, not because they have thought it through.

If they agree that O'bama is becoming unelectable, they have ONLY two choices: flip the vote and risk the wrath of O'bamanites or admit their own pointlessness and stay with the status quo.

More popcorn, please.

Both men (algore & John Francois Kerry) lost control of their public images to the right-wing freak show

Yeah, that jumped out at me. The author used "freak show" three times in four sentences. The clown doesn't realize the source of conservative radio's power. It is the normal, God loving, everyday people fed up with the destruction that liberals have done to our country.
