56% Disagree with Obamas Comments on Small Town America Monday, April 14, 2008
Fifty-six percent (56%) of voters nationwide disagree with Barack Obamas statement that people in small towns cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 25% agree with the Democratic frontrunner while 19% are not sure.
Partisan and ideological differences suggest that the comments are more likely to be a factor in the General Election than in the Primaries. A plurality of politically liberal voters46%--agree with Obamas statement while 33% disagree. Moderate voters take the opposite view and disagree by a 51% to 27% margin. Seventy-four percent (74%) of conservatives disagree with Obamas statement, only 12% agree.
Democrats are fairly evenly divided34% agree with Obama and 43% disagree. Generally, Obama supporters agree with him while Hillary Clintons supporters disagree.

Only 56%? I find that a little depressing.
(A plurality of politically liberal voters46%—agree with Obamas statement)
We now know the percentage of liberal voters who are intolerant bigots. Thanks!
“A plurality of politically liberal voters46%—agree with Obamas statement while 33% disagree. Moderate voters take the opposite view and disagree by a 51% to 27% margin. Seventy-four percent (74%) of conservatives disagree with Obamas statement, only 12% agree. “
PROOF that liberalism is a mental disease.
True, but then don;t forget about that 19%. It probably represents closet conservatives who have been brainwashed to act politically correct in public.
America is screwed.
Obama is revealing exactly who he is...and he is an abject Marxist, a collectivist, an elitist, who has no love for the foundational principles of this nation. Rather, he is a product of his own hateful core belief system.
LLS
I hope at some point McCain points out Obaama is mean and divisive and can't admit when he's wrong.
Only 25% agree.
Good grief, America. Wake up. This primary season is a up-close-and-personal look at how the parties and the candidates 'manage' affairs.
The Pubbie primary is long over and on we move.
The dimRats primary is one long, divisive, chaotic disaster. If they can't even manage a campaign in their own house, among family, how are we going to trust them to manage the country, to keep us safe or to ever make the right decisions quickly in time of emergency?
Keep in mind that only 25% agree, and that probably 25% of respondents are too stupid to even understand the remarks.
I question the validity of this poll because according to question #5 30% of the respondents believed that Obama was a moderate! Who did they poll?
5* In political terms, is Barrack Obama conservative moderate or liberal?
4% Conservative
30% Moderate
52% Liberal
13% Not sure
Also, question #1 asked if they had been following the event closely and 44% were not closely following this news event.
Wow! That means a lot of people share his scorn for rural Americans, or it means he’s successfully spinning his way out of these comments that he made to a closed meeting of rich Liberal donors where he wanted them to know he shares their contempt for the rubes, religious zealots, gun nuts, and xenophobes.
That’s because nearly a quarter of those polled didn’t have a clue what was said, and the poll was probably the first they’d heard about it. So they said “Not Sure.”
Then another quarter of them are people that either (a) have no clue what is going on but don’t want to admit it, so they’ll agree with the Dem candidate no matter what, or (b) DID know about Obama’s comments before being polled and think Obama is right.
It is depressing, all right.
They represent the portion of the population that are so self-absorbed they care little about anything outside of their own lives.
A "uniter", indeed. :(
I guess the other 44% are cleaning all of their guns on the kitchen table while listening to Joel Osteen on the idiot box.
An incredibly ignorant statement by Obama-a glimpse into his mind.Just another reason this man cannot be our next president.Currently being discussed on Fox-hope this issue doesn’t die.
