Nostradamus was a heretic kook. He’s exhibit A of the evil nature of the occult.

Clearly the INTERPRETED prophecies of Emmerich are off the mark. There may be veracity in the prophecies, but attributing to specific times and places is an exercise in frustration.

Yet another terrorist makes his intentions clear. Yet, the Western world responds with more PC and “tolerence.”

“I think that he thinks both were created by Satan.”

Oh, no doubt he does. But I do remember a pamphlet that I recall made the claim that Catholics created the Muslims on purpose and with evil intent, a secret conspiracy to persecute Jews and so sieze Jerusalem for the Pope.

As to which Satan-based group J. Chick loathes more, I reckon the Catholics have it all over the Muslims. The Muslims don’t distribute the “Death Cookie” or keep the name of every non-Catholic Christian’s name in a Vatican supercomputer for reference in the coming persecution. I still say he and his would love to see Rome crushed by Islam.

I certainly think Islam is a threat to the Church, as it has been from the beginning, starting with Muhammad himself; so prophecies which warn us of Mohammadan aggression are a valuable warning (as well as a sure thing.)

Nevertheless, we are well-advised to take a skeptical view of visions and so forth: all the genuine visionaries certainly did! Most of them didn't publish or publicize their visions unless ordered to do so by their confessor or religious superior. For a bit about St Catherine of Siena's erroneous vision, you can see here (about 1/3 of the way down the page) --- altogether, this whole article has a good discussion on reasons to be cautious about "messages."

Concerning St. Malachi: wrong on two counts. (1) Pope Benedict is not a member of the Benedictine order, and (2) "the glory of the olives" is not one of the four Benedictine mottoes. They are "Ora et Labora" (Work and Pray), "Pax" (Peace), "Ut in omnibus glorificetur Deus" (That in all things God may be glorified), and "Let nothing else be preferred to the Work of God."

There is one small congregation within the Benedictine Order, in rural Italy, called the "Olivetians" but it has no particular link to Pope Benedict; and besides, their motto is not "the glory of the olives."

Moreover, Pope Benedict didn't say he chose his name because of St. Benedict of Nursia, but rather in honor of Pope Benedict XV, who was pope during World War I and a strong advocate for ending the war.

So, sorry, it really doesn't pan out. Not unless you treat the prophecy like one of my old sweaters, which I sometimes stretch way too far, to cover way too much! :o)

Do you recall which one it was? I’ll look it up on his webiste and see.

At any event, while I myself have serious doctrinal issues with the Catholic Church, I do not doubt that they are Christians. And all such differences fade into total insignificance compared with my differences, doctrinal and political with Islam.

And I think the vast majority of Evangelicals feel the same way. We are not one institution, nor a monolithic bloc. There are even liberals who call themselves Evangelical Christians. I can hardly wrap my m ind around the concept.

Then there are the liberation theologists of the Catholic Church, who thought Jesus was a proto-Marxist.

So go figure.

Keep up the good fight.

I agree with the fact Nostradamus was a heretic kook! And I also said in a previous post that the interpreted prophecies of Emmerich regarding Pope John Paul II,were someone's interpretation, NOT HERS! Someone ask about Catholic prophecies regarding the invading of Rome by Muslims, and I brought one that states this almost two-hundred years ago. It never said a specific time at all, just the state of the Church at the time. Which of course, surley sounds like our time. I believe the Church will never be conquered by Islam, but I do believe they will try again.

Hey, I have serious doctrinal issues with Evangelicals, but I know they are Christians and I think the vast majority rejects Chick and his ilk. The Catholic Church has it’s fair share of wierdos too.

The tract of Catholics creating Islam to spread death and destruction is called “The Story Teller” and can be found here:http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0062/0062_01.asp

After reading it again, I really do think that Chick would enjoy seeing Rome fall to Islam. What do you think?

Thanks for the clarification! I would hearken also to St. John Bosco’s dream...

heavy stuff for times heavy with evil...

Speaking of St. John Bosco dream, where he saw The Pope at the helm of a ship, and cannon fire and bullets were shooting at the ship. And in the front of the ship on either side stood two pillars the Euchrist on one and Mary on the other. Well there was a photo of Pope Benendicit coming in on a ship like a year or so back on Spirit Daily web site, and I swear it looked just like the sketch of John Bosco’s dream! I do think we are in heavy stuff for times of heavy evil...

Me too! I thought Amazing. Did you see the photo of Pope John Paul II handing over the cross to Pope Benedict during the stations of the cross before he died, and of course before Benedict became Pope. It was certainly a prophetic sign from God at who the next Pope would be. Of course, we did not realize until after he was chosen. I hope our nation is blessed today with Pope Benedict coming!

“The Muslims don’t distribute the “Death Cookie” or keep the name of every non-Catholic Christian’s name in a Vatican supercomputer for reference in the coming persecution.”

Did you forget to take your meds? My father is still getting mail, and he's been dead for 35 years. The Readers Digest is still wondering why my mother doesn't renew her subscription and she's been dead for five years. What computer is capable of producing an accurate reference list? The “Death Cookie”???? Excuse me?

I have to say, this election year has me flummoxed. I've never seen such ugly rhetoric in my lifetime and I was born into a segregated, WASP America. I've got to say all of this tin-foil, bogeyman crap is enough. I plan on not being home or “receiving guests” when all this lunacy comes to pass. I don't care which way the wind blows. I and mine are for the Lamb of God and the rest of the fence sitters can beat their brains into mush until we put the final solution into action. It will be, by the way, final.

Well, son of a gun. I've never seen that particular Chick tract before. Does seem like he thinks The RCC created Islam. If so, it has certainly backfired on them, big time :).

Still, I don't know that he would want Islam to conquer anything. Hard to say, but you might, I repeat, might be right. He isn't advocating, in this bookelt, that Islam is right, either.

well, I can't worry about Jack Chick. His position, vis-a-vis God is his concern and God's. Still, you have to remember that he is considered pretty far out on the edge by most Evangelicals, at least those that I know of. Far more influential and harmful are the social gospelers and liberation theologists, IMO.

Meds shmeds!! HAHA!! The Vatican’s super computer is much better than anything known to the unwashed masses!! It runs on disembodied Jesuit brains!!! And all those brains worship Mary!!

The “Death Cookie” is of course the name given to the Eucharist by certain delusional paranoids who no doubt think it is more dangerous than anything Islamic fanatics could ever come up with.

Neither will I.
What we have to remember is that the only thing stopping this from happening is the state of Israel.
