"Bush's North Korea Capitulation" (Dynamite BOLTON Op/Ed!)
Wall Street Journal ^
| 15 April 2008
| Ambassador John R. Bolton
Posted on 04/16/2008 7:23:17 AM PDT by AmericanInTokyo
President George W. Bush is fond of comparing himself to Ronald Reagan. But as he meets with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in Washington this week, his policy regarding North Korea's nuclear weapons program looks more like something out of Bill Clinton's or Jimmy Carter's playbook. In dealing with the Soviet Union on arms control, Reagan was famous for repeating the Russian phrase, "Doveryai, no proveryai" (trust, but verify). Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev reportedly once complained to Reagan, "You use that phrase every time we meet." To which Reagan smilingly replied, "That's because I like it so much." This administration appears to have forgotten that concept altogether.

Read on. This is good stuff. It is damned scary, though.
This legacy stuff in the waning days of the W Administration, abject appeasement, is going to get a lot of people killed if they don't watch it.

Do I get in trouble for posting the conclusion of the article? Couldn't help myself:
Last fall, President Bush rejected the idea of giving North Korea a pass on uranium enrichment and proliferation. Now, in the waning days of his term, he seems poised to accept it. If he does, and if this deal proceeds, we can well and truly say: "President Bush, you are no Ronald Reagan."

The Congress and Senate needs to step up to the plate and put a stop to this Bush/Condi/Career State Department crap. Totally agreed with Ambassador Bolton here.
But the Democrats wont do it since they are all for appeasement, and the RINOs have no spine nor backbone to oppose Bush and Condi on this outrage either.
We are royally SCREWED in the process.

There might be a very different take to this than Bolton provides.
Perhaps South Korea and China are fixing to remove the government of North Korea ... soon. Reunite Korea, and along the way, redraw the border between Korea and China just a little so that Manchuria extends to the Pacific.

I swear, he may talk tough and a little swagger right now (but so did W) but this
McCain fellow, if elected, is going to give us FOUR OR EIGHT more years of this RINO international appeasement crap and sellouts. Just watch. Of course that doofus SnObama will be no better, nor Hitlery. You are so right about these Republicans at the national level, they have lost their balls if they ever had them in the first place. This Chamberlainian stuff is going to get us in a hot war on the Peninsula, maybe even a triad of Syria, Iran and North Korea all at once.
So, there are the 2008 choices folks. Enjoy.

Perhaps South Korea and China are fixing to remove the government of North Korea ... soon. Reunite Korea, and along the way, redraw the border between Korea and China just a little so that Manchuria extends to the Pacific. That's incredibly unlikely. The South is not interested in a fast reunification with the North (a la East & West Germany). I doubt very much you'd be able to find a single Korean (North or South) that would be interested in giving China any part of their county.
Nope, I'm afraid that it's much more likely that Dubya is "all hat and no cattle."

Everyone has their price. And we're talking just a tiny bit of land; perhaps 1 mile by 10 miles, where the North Korean border touches Russia, next to the Pacific.

I'm afraid that it's much more likely that Dubya is "all hat and no cattle."
Certainly, I'm not going to take the other side of that bet.

What, with their 5,000 year-old culture, the humiliation of the Japanese occupation last century, it's just not feasible that anyone is going to sell them on giving up a part of their country.
Besides, what's the rush? The North regime is dying and a better reunification will occur when the North slowly opens up and a peaceful merger can take place.

Oh come on! It's getting so that people that still admire and support our Pres. are getting treated very disrespectfully on this site by some people that sit and trash him all day! I would expect this from the left wing, but when this behavior is coming from the right, it's sickening!
There, that is my opinion and you can trash me all you want! And yes, you have the right to your opinion too. But much of what some of you Bush-bashers say reveals much more about you than you know. A lot more than it does about us so-called “Bush-bots”! If saying this makes me a “Bush-bot”, then so be it!

The only positive things I can point to about the President these days is that he has kept his pants on in the Oval Office (unlike his predecessor), the tax cuts were good public policy, and Roberts and Alito are on the SCOTUS.
But we do America no service to blindly support a President who is failing to carry out his Oath of Office, and selling out friends and allies while failing to take effective action against our enemies, beyond running his mouth (because talk is cheap).
As I’ve said many times, George W. Bush would have been a great VP for *President* Dick Cheney, because GWB simply wasn’t ready for prime time in 2000, and these coming crumbling months of his Administration are going to validate that.
Go ahead and engage in your mindless hero worship, that says PLENTY about you and your fellow BushBots, and that’s exactly what you are.

You said in your post #11:
"This must just be another case of ignorant BDS."
No qualifier, no 'sarc off' tag, just a statement made in apparent seriousness.
Now you say it was to find 'hair triggers' and provoke 'emotional outbursts'.
If that was your only reason to post, you're wasting JimRob's bandwidth, and it establishes that you're nothing but a sh*t-disturber.
