Fact check: Obama, Clinton and the Weather Underground

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Sen. Barack Obama is defending his relationship with a former radical whose provocative words were wrongly linked by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Facts were loose in both Democratic presidential campaigns Thursday as Clinton sought advantage from her rival's association with William Ayers, a college professor who was once part of the violent Weather Underground group.

The dustup arose in their debate the night before when Obama was asked whether his connection to Ayers raised politically damaging questions about his patriotism.

Obama struck back by calling attention to Bill Clinton's decision to grant clemency to two former Weather Underground members who — unlike Ayers — had been convicted of crimes from that era.

President Clinton's actions freed women who had been serving sentences of 40 years and 58 years after convictions on weapons, explosives and related charges.

Barak Obama’s ties to the radical leaders of the Weather Underground, whose contemptible attacks on America in the late 60s and early 70s were repulsive to everyone except those who today are the leadership of the modern Democratic Party, are understated by AP in this “fact check”. As Obama understated them in last night’s debate.

The Weather Underground was founded by Bernadine Dorn and Bill Ayers, who today are married and are both professors at Chicago universities. The group carried out terrorist attacks on the United States, called for violent revolution based on Marx’s Communist Manifesto, helped stage the pathetic “days of rage” in 1968, and lived as fugitives for years.

Mr. Obama launched his first political campaign in the home of Dorn and Ayers.

These are the radicals of the sixties. They aspired to launch a Communist revolution in the United States just as there had been in Cuba. They hoped to destroy our republic and replace it with Marxist-Leninist communism. And today, they have their candidate for President of the United States.

As the Weatherman would say, Barak Obama knows which way the commie wind blows.

“AP Fact Check” is consistently “Obama spin”.

This time, no mention of the tecnicality that got Ayers off.

No mention Obama admits he consults with the guy.

I thought Bill Clinton pardon Puerto Rican Separatists Group.
They’re terrorist but not Weather Underground Bunch.
Obama got his facts wrong at the debate?
What good will he be as POTUS...he can’t keep terrorist organization names straight.

The Company He Keeps

It was at the Chicago home of Ayers and Dohrn that Obama, then an up-and-coming “community organizer,” had his political coming out party in 1995. Not content with this rite of passage in Lefty World — where unrepentant terrorists are regarded as progressive luminaries, still working “only to educate” — both Obamas tended to the relationship with the Ayers.

Barack Obama made a joint appearance with Bill Ayers in 1997 at a University of Chicago panel on the outrage of treating juvenile criminals as if they were, well, criminals. Obama apologists say, “So what? People appear with other people all the time.” Nice try. This panel was orchestrated by none other than Michelle Obama, then an Associate Dean of Student Services. Ayers didn’t happen to be there — he was invited by the Obamas to educate students on the question before the house: “Should a Child Ever Be Called a ‘Super Predator?’” [emphasis added]
