Israel Says Iran Will Be Destroyed If Attacked As Wargames Tests Massive Attack Scenario

An Israeli government minister warned on Monday that Israel would respond to any Iranian attack by destroying that country, public radio reported.

"An Iranian attack against Israel would trigger a tough reaction that would lead to the destruction of the Iranian nation," National Infrastructure Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer said in remarks of rare virulence.
"Iranians are aware of our strength but continue to provoke us by arming their Syrian allies and Hezbollah," he said during a meeting at his ministry.

Ben-Eliezer, a member of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's security cabinet, stressed however that the Iranians were unlikely to attack as "they understand the meaning of such an act."

Last month, Defence Minister Ehud Barak told visiting US Vice President Dick Cheney that "no option" would be ruled out in Israel's bid to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Israel, along with its ally the United States and other Western powers, accuses Iran of pursuing the development of a nuclear bomb under the guise of its civilian nuclear programme -- a charge Tehran denies.
Israel considers Iran its top enemy following repeated calls by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the Jewish state to be wiped off the map.
Ben-Eliezer also stressed that an ongoing five-day home front defence exercise was not meant to threaten Israel's neighbours, but stressed that "the scenarios considered in the exercise could be reality tomorrow."
He said Israel could one day find itself in a situation in which hundreds of rockets rain down on Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
"Nowhere would be safe from Syrian and Hezbollah rockets," Ben-Eliezer said.
The scenario for Monday's drill had Israel coming under simultaneous attack from Syria and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia in the north and from Palestinian militants in Gaza to the south.

So, which of the two countries'leaders get a better night's sleep knowing their will live to see another day, while the other lies vaporized, smoldering amidst a black pall of radioactive fallout?

In such a scenario I say Israel gets to survive.

I don’t know why they talk this way. Israel cannot destroy Iran without NUKES and I don’t see them using them unless Iran
attacks with WMDs. It is posturing.

You know a lot of it is simple posturing. A day doesn't pass without Iranians speaking of wiping Israel off the map without much of a response from Israel.
So now Israel takes a swipe at Iran, the bravado being lobbed back and forth in a game of tough-guy talk. That's all it is, really.

I certainly wouldn't get upset by it.

Yes that is true for both sides, until it is not.

Too bad GW doesn't have the stones to inform Tehran of their CONTINUED WAR against US!

"I certainly wouldn't get upset by it."

Right on. Why be upset? Just because the leader of Iran is a certified psycho who thinks the best thing for him and his people is to die for his swine sucking allah and just because he has advocated changing the map of the Middle East to NOT include Israel, so what. Sure, the old standby of M.A.D. is firmly in place here so neither country would dare do anything as foolish as attack with nukes....right?

Reading your message, of what I said,
I must insist, it is the very gist,
you seemed to have missed.

Hearing Iran say it = same old, same old.

Hearing Israel say it = there’s a chill down the back of my spine. Because Israel is a sober and realistic country, not a country of shrieking muslims.

He said Israel could one day find itself in a situation in which hundreds of rockets rain down on Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

That admission by Ben-Eliezer will turn some turbans. As for brinkmanship, it makes Israel's threat to destroy Iran that much more credible than Ahmadinejad's constant braying.

There are so many dimensions, layers of threat. counter-threat nuances, objectives that exist in between the words, lines, utterances.

As an avid supporter of Israel, to hear the 3M' s(Mad Mullahs of Mayhem) of the Shi'ite Sociopath Republic in Tehran speak with vituperative pathological hatred for Israel, denigrate every convention of civilized society, cherished by the Jewish people, speaking of annihilation, immolation, is enough to scare me in my New York home, let alone the little old ladies in Jerusalem who find themselves in fits of fear and anxiety. in response.

Now, when Israel talks in this manner, don't you think it serves a very practical purpose as psychological lift, emotional ameliorant, one that soothes the nerves that these mongrels have wrangled throughout Israel? I feel most confident to say, absolutely.

I tend to be with you on this. If the worst comes to pass, we must be sure that the IDF has the latest weaponry available. After all, if they are going to be our surrogate, I insist on good results.

I agree completely. Do never test the survival instinct of the State of Israel.

Really? Do you know that the German soldiers who marched into the Sudetenland in the very early years of the Third Reich in direct violation of the Versailles Treaty were warned in the harshest terms to make a very hasty retreat, tails between legs, with the slightest response, in Hitler' first test of the Allies' resolve?
Had the French been the slightest bit demonstrative, militarily or perhaps even verbally, historians speculate that it might have put an end to Hitler's military escapades, even an end to his Chancellorship. But it didn't happen. No tough-talking froggies. And as they say,the rest is history.

So in other words; that version of “can’t we all just get along” caused a world war and killed millions?

Post "one" example and ignore all the wars throughout the ages?

There will be wars...and when the survival of a people is in jeopardy, the use of all tools available is expected. This doesn't even take into account the "death by thousand cuts" attacks...that never cease.

The world will not miss the perpetrators of terror.

Look over the sequence of messages. We were discussing tough talk specifically the tough talk of the Israelis,Tough Talk.as a means of psychological warfare. How did it become an issue of actual warfare??
