We were near Centennial HS, and it was fairly built up there already, completely so on the east side.

But I know what you mean about the recent development. I drove around the area during a reunion last summer. We had a barbecue at a friend’s place of business in Bondville.

Maybe you're not paying attention. Every time a fire, or quake or what ever happens on the west coast, it never fails, several toothless morons will always jump in hoping for massive death and destruction. Happens all the time. Hope that explains.

It does not help matters that it occurs while the Pope is visiting, a day before Passover.

I will advise you of any local sightings of it raining frogs or serpents, or of plagues of locusts.

Meanwhile, back to the news:

In New York, a taxicab parked in front of St. Patricks Cathedral suddenly burst into flames during the Pope's visit to New York. Pope Benedict XVI is expected to visit the cathedral on Saturday.

5.2 is worthy of mention. Barely.

I agree, however, on a personal basis, if you're standing over the top of the epicenter, and it's not too deep, it can often seem like the end the world, and can even make people with earthquake experience laugh nervously.

Years ago I was actually slightly injured in a moderate quake, when I over reacted attempting to get out of a structure. It was my own fault. But you have to go into survival mode quickly when it first strikes as ya never know if those initial small waves or tremors will turn massive.

Tremors?

Giant graboid worms have not yet been eliminated as a possible cause, though we've ruled out mutated giant bunnyrabbits or a kangaroo stampede.

The investigation into possible cattle flatuence as a proximate cause remains unconfirmed and untested, which I will check out at lunchtime, at the local Outback Steak House.

Well, we may have had a shock/aftershock here. I just let the dog out and a small lattice work next to the house had fallen over. Nothing else appears amiss, however. I never felt a thing. I’ve been getting Windows apps. set up on Ubuntu and have been too intent to notice much.

I should go down to see whether my golf bag fell over. That could be disastrous.

I woke up when my bed started shaking. I looked at the clock, wondered why Fort Knox was firing at that time of the morning, and went back to sleep.

Here's some of the damage on Kentucky Street in downtown Louisville.

We live just east of Evansville and it was definitely a noisy event! My husband and I were awake, waiting for the alarm to go off when you could hear banging, sounded like a empty semi hitting chuck holes on the road and then the house started shaking and rattleing. Went on for 30 seconds or more. We just had a 4.5 about an hour ago or so. It beats having a big one instead. This is the first one I’ve ever felt! Always before, I was driving in my car or something..On one hand, way cool, on the other, kind of unnerving.

Probably there are some that felt it that far west, though it is suprising.

However, we need to keep in mind Midwest quakes travel a long way. They can be felt over HUGE areas, even mild ones (of which most midwest quakes are).

We felt it here in NE Arkansas. It felt like a semi going down the road.
