I believe you. When I fill out the end of semester course survey next week I’m planning on mentioning the prevalence of propaganda over science.
If you’ve stuck with the field despite the silliness, then I salute your fortitude.

I think you’re right, which is why it’s useless to try to play nice and convince them otherwise. Their self-respect is dependent upon despising our strength.

...”Oscar van den Boogaard, a Dutch gay humanist (which is pretty much the trifecta of Eurocool)”...
This must be the guy that MI Gov. Granholm (D) collaborated with when developing her flaky “Cool Cities” agenda. It’s probably the flakiest idea any governor of Michigan has ever had.

“As for respect, psychology as a discipline has become largely Lysenko-ized and hence squandered its right to be respected by serious students.”
My instincts tell me that PC has intervened on behalf of “itself”.

This mindset is reflective of the multi-faceted envy that is spawned in societies where there is a permanent class system (i.e. sicialism). These nanny-state subjects will always have less (on average) than do people in societies where liberty and property rights are prevalent (e.g. the USA).
My relatives in Italia see the differences in our standards of living, but do not see - or would rather not see - the differences in the amount of effort expended in obtaining that standard. For example, they start out with 6 weeks of vacation a year when first working. And it increases from there! Even my uncle, who is a policeman, does not work one hour of overtime in a year, while my husband worked over 3000 hours last year (about 900-1000 hours more than my uncle). Many of the kids over 25 still live at home because good paying jobs are hard to get. They also don't see that the choices people make here determine their level of success because they don't get the opportunity over there to change their circumstances. At least, not many do. I can't really blame them, because it's easier to envy someone than it is to take on a socialist state and try to change it. But I would expect them to at least recognize that they get many free handouts we don't get and have a lot of free time to enjoy their espressi.
