BAGHDAD - Anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr gave a "final warning" to the government Saturday to halt a U.S.-Iraqi crackdown against his followers or he would declare "open war until liberation." ADVERTISEMENT

A full-blown uprising by al-Sadr, who led two rebellions against U.S.-led forces in 2004, could lead to a dramatic increase in violence in Iraq at a time when the Sunni extremist group al-Qaida in Iraq appears poised for new attacks after suffering severe blows last year.

Al-Sadr's warning appeared on his Web site as Iraq's Shiite-dominated government claimed success in a new push against Shiite militants in the southern city of Basra. Fighting claimed 14 more lives in Sadr City, the Baghdad stronghold of al-Sadr's Mahdi Army.

Why this fool wasn’t done away with along time ago (like 2003) is just another blunder? I am disappointed that many in this White House caved to the PC crowd and fought this war like it was Vietnam again.

WE need to kidnap this guy, torture him as necessary, video tape it, send the tape to al-jazera, then drop him off at Club Gitmo for an extended stay where he can dine on ham sandwiches and all-you-can-eat spare ribs.

And this hot air changes things how? The GoI didn’t accept his ceasefire or his demands in March and has continued to engage every since...

Have all the AC-130 gunships been retired? Are all the special operators busy somewhere else?

“I am disappointed that many in this White House caved to the PC crowd and fought this war like it was Vietnam again.”

I agree completely.

If we’re not going to fight to win, but just piss away soldiers lives like we did in Vietnam, we might as well just stay home and sit on the porch drinking beer.

I’m assuming you have military background. With that tag.
My only question is, if it is a war why aren’t military men running it.

if it is a social experiment, why are they wasting military men

thats all

Yes, see my “about” page. I don’t know why modern presidents feel the need to micro-manage the military and bow to the PC crowd.

Threats mean nothing. If he thought he was strong enough to do it and win, he would be doing it already.
