What about Perot?
Had he immediately had the Mayor of LA thrown in jail for inciting the riots ...."Take to the streets. Show your feelings ...but keep the peace," were Tom Bradley's words on TV. It took the police, the governor, and the National Guard days too long to quell the riots. Shooting the first 500 rioters would have ended that affair in 10 minutes.
Bush came to town and sicced the Feds on the officers who had already been acquitted ... and then winked at the blatant jury intimidation in the federal trial that put the officers away. He was too oblivious to the fact that a strong stand AGAINST Tom Bradley and Rodney King would have won him California. He was more concerned with losing the press!
Pa Bush was a great man, but a great dithering wimp. He took a dive in the '92 campaign rather than expose what he knew about Bill Clinton. (The greatest political mystery of the century)
Neither Rodney King, nor Ross Perot caused Papa Bush's downfall. The fault lay with him, with his own feckless, indecisive self. E.G., he threw away victory in Iraq, leaving Saddam in power. The man always dithered, when he might have led.
