The Social Pain of Blacks Who Back McCain
Human Events ^ | 4/20/08 | D. R. Tucker

Posted on 04/20/2008 3:42:31 AM PDT by MartinaMisc

On April 18, former Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele filled in for nationally syndicated talk-radio host Hugh Hewitt: most of Steele’s show was dominated by a discussion of the recent troubles of Barack Obama. With great clarity and wisdom, Steele spoke of the danger Obama’s extreme liberalism poses to the country, and the importance of voting for John McCain this fall.

At one point, Steele talked about the heat he occasionally receives from those who wonder why he, as an African-American, supports McCain. Steele stated that while he is happy that Obama’s running, he will do everything he can to forestall his victory, because Obama’s ideas are simply inimical to America’s best domestic and foreign interests.

Steele’s not alone. The regrettably small percentage of blacks who vote Republican in Presidential elections are wise enough to see through Obama’s illusions, and will support McCain in the name of national security and a strong economy. Blacks who will vote for McCain this fall are some of the most courageous people on the planet, because of the extreme social scorn they will face from their left-wing black counterparts.

It takes courage to challenge the dominant social order. It took courage for Elia Kazan to battle pro-Communist sentiment in the 1950s. It took courage for Martin Luther King to fight Jim Crow in the 1960s. It took courage for Ronald Reagan to confront institutionalized liberalism in the 1980s. Likewise, it will take courage for black Republicans like Steele to combat “Obama-ism” in the late-2000s.

Black Republicans recognize the fundamental emptiness of Obama’s vision; they’ve been fighting against his socialist worldview for decades.

Steele isn’t alone. Larry Elder constantly takes heat and is called an uncle tom for not toeing the line. Liberals expose their racist attitudes when they preach that “there is no race” and then advocate voting one’s skin color.

What’s more is that Obamaphiliacs are going after people who are ostensibly friendly with RATS. Take Tavis Smiley. I recall reading that he received death threats for few weeks and was forced off his radio show for not praising obomba and daring to question his non-attendance to some black forum.

This whole movement has every characteristic of a dangerous cult that carries the potential of reaching critical mass. The media isn’t doing its job of exposing Hussein. I am concerned that no matter how much stuff comes out about this man it still remains confined to blogs and the internet in general. The message might be lost on those who don’t follow non-traditional news channels.

While I understand the meaning of "Uncle Tom" as some sort of insult, I can't help but notice that those who use the term obviously have no familiarity with the actual character from the novel.

How about true conservatives... of every race, gender and denomination?! We must wrestle with our own conscience... knowing full well that a vote for McCain means pushing the Republic further leftward... in order to save it from a complete, Marxist-socialist takeover.

It's a bitter pill to swallow...

Quote of the Day: “My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.” ? Barack Obama

Be leary of the change and hope. If he believes we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world - WHY CHANGE IT?

I live in one of the most liberal counties in the US and work at a place that is about 50% minority, with half of that minority being black. Of course they are all hysterical with joy about Obama, despite the fact that none of them can accurately describe Obama’s stance on any issue.

But I have had some success in talking to them about taxes. Just the other day a black woman was complaining about how high her state and federal income taxes were and was asking me for advice on how to cut them. I shrugged. “But you want to pay high taxes, don’t you?” I asked innocently.

No, she said, she certainly did not.

“But you voted for a liberal political ticket in 2006, right? You voted for Ben Cardin, a liberal white man, for senator, instead of a conservative black man like Michael Steele who would have fought to keep your taxes low.” And I went on in this vein, explaining that if she votes for liberals like she is voting to support her lazy neighbors who are at home watching Oprah while she works. She was really struck with Obama’s plan to spend more than three-quarters of a trillion dollars on a giveaway to foreign countries.

By the time I got done she was ready to vote McCain. Whether that will last or not, I don’t know, but this argument has been successful with other blacks I’ve spoken to. I have met a number of blacks who are not voting for Obama or for Hillary.

The Obama quote is an urban legend:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/change.asp

http://urbanlegends.about.com/b/2008/03/11/quoth-obama.htm

I can’t believe Obama ever would have said we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. Michelle wouldn’t have spoken to him for a month.

How come Obama didn’t support Steele when he ran? Or Lynn Swann?

I don't know what planet you are from but I know plenty of them that have considered McCain from day one....It's not always about race for everyone, all ye projectionists.

Oxymoron context alert -- true conservatives don't exist within your described context, just RINOs like McLame. Perhaps you should consider reading another Arizona senator's book on conservative thought and get back to us about the conservative conscience...hint, hint.

Sorry, I'll pass on the mass hemlock consumption. I think I'll just work on the legislative side of things and ignore the executive.

If history is any kind of judge he is from planet earth. The fact that blacks vote in ridiculous majorities for Democrats over Republicans even when Republican policies are clearly closer to their beliefs is pretty well documented.

Michael and Larry are “Men of Honor,” which the leftist marxist hate whitey congregants will never accept.

I have some Black friends (former soldiers) of mine, who are successful, educated, financially well off and proud to be Americans.

My friends are voting for John McCain, for the know which is better for America and Americans in this lifetime.

Respectfully,
NSNR

OK...let me elaborate...the author is using the same bigoted style that Obama is using.

If I had to paint a dividing line I would say that people vote according to the beliefs and issues in their geographical location rather than race. Considering the fact that minorities are highly concentrated in urban areas...they vote on urban issues...which don't reflect the vast majority of Americas beliefs.

There are those however that take the entire country into consideration when casting their vote. I understand it takes a lot of thinking outside the box...but our country is worth it, don't you think?

A push to marginalize and separate rural areas from the political landscape is an old marxist trick. We can't let the Dems keep us divided on the basis of race, gender or location or they will continue to rip this country apart.

The Dems focus is and always has been the social playing field. They distort and exaggerate the dividing lines to make excuses for their existence. And they have the upper hand in the social studies arena because too many Republicans find the subject useless to their daily lives.

I guess I'm saying that only blacks living in areas that think like Reverend Wright are feeling any social "pain" for voting on issues other than race.

Obama's field of reference is Chicago and it's a mess...close to 3,000 murders in a four year period. Give them another year and they will be in competition with Baghdad.
