A Republican congressional leader called on Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to revoke former President Jimmy Carter's passport in response to his traveling to Syria and Egypt to meet with delegations from the terrorist group Hamas.
Since 1995, the Palestinian organization has officially been designated by the United States as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
"Former President Carter has acted in contradiction of international agreements to isolate Hamas," said Rep. Sue Myrick, deputy Republican whip in the House. "He has acted in defiance of both United States policy and international policy."
After Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian parliamentary elections, Washington, along with the United Nations, the European Union and Russia called on Hamas to renounce terror, recognize Israel and recognize the previous agreements between the Palestinian Authority and Israel as they seek an agreement to make peace. Hamas has categorically rejected these three conditions for more than two years.

Great minds.
At least revoke his passport while he is out of the country.
At least.
Keep dreaming... if anything, the State Department will probably give Carter some sort of gold medal for his efforts.

This is a defining moment for President George W Bush. If he fails to take decisive action against Carter, he will be viewed as a weak, lame-duck President. His legacy will be one that shows him failing to maintain control of Foreign Policy in his final term, and it will embolden the enemies of America.
US Soldiers will die as a result of Carter’s visit to Hamas.
This is something that the President cannot afford to ignore. The Logan Act has been clearly violated. It is not on the books for decoration: if ever there was a good case to use it in the past 200-odd years of it being on the books, this is surely it.
What? A Republican leader with balls? And a woman, too? You go girl!
HOORAY Sue Myrick!
HOORAY Sue Myrick!
HOORAY Sue Myrick!
Too late. Bush already let that cat out of the bag when he refused to have the Justice Department prosecute Democrat members of Congress who took similar trips in 2007.
Sadly, you’re no doubt right but Sue gets a big ATTA GIRL!! for effort.
The warning of dire consequences should have been given him before he left the country! The man is desparately seeking to bury his failed presidencial title with a peace accord. Remember what that got Sadat? It is time he accept his failure, shut up and sit down!
But it ain't gonna happen. Not to an ex-President anyway. No matter what he does short of rape or murder. I don't think anyone would relish opening up that can of worms considering how quick both sides screech political persecution. I especially don't think President Bush has the backbone for it.
That said, if you want to take an honest look at how far Americans have slipped since the 60's look no further than Carter. It is a disgrace he ever got elected Governor, not to mention President.
I hate to inform you but, Bush is already viewed and is in fact the lamest duck, and the worst president we've had since Carter. I agree that Carter should be imprisoned for this, but Bush is a moron. Just look at his latest pandering to the global warming crowd. A true buffoon.
Finally someone speaks up!!!.. Jail time for the goofy peanut farmer.
Revoke it now while he is still out of the country!
Even rape and murder won't getcha, even when you're president, not if you're one of the media's darlings. Witness the Clintons.
*sigh*
Myrick knows damned well not a thing will be done to the POS Carter.
This president and this party haven't had gonads in years. They're not about to grow any now.
