It is a marketing ploy. The product is development of a new tax base, not to replace existing taxes, abut a fertile new source of revenue. Also, these “carbon credits” will become a fine new market for international trading, a way to shift wealth from the affluent to the underdeveloped countries.

What people need is a 7th grade course in general science like what was once taught in public schools until 40 (?) yrs. ago. After that, an explanation of the who and why is unnecessary because anyone trying to convince people that they can do something about climate change will simply be laughed at.
