I believe Horowitz has written the most authoritatively on the attraction of leftists towards unrepentant men of violence (as long as they call themselves revolutionaries). Some leftists have openly admitted down through the years that they too, would be killing people and blowing up things if they weren’t so addicted to the good life.
From Che Guevara to Huey Newton to Gerry Adams, leftists find violence sexy. There’s no other way to put it. It has been theorized that they tend to be narcissistic, immature personalities forever trying to get back at authority.
Horowitz has also recently written of the bizarre but seamless transition the lefties have made in transferring their affections from Marxist terrorists to Islamist killers, although one would think they would draw the line at embracing such utterly alien, nihilistic monsters that do not even have the utopian ideology of communism to cloak their savagery and who would would make the “beautiful people” their first victims if they ever took power over us.

I like Horowitz, but it's not that lefties have transferred their affections, they've expanded their affections to islamist killers. They still embrace Marxists.
