LANCASTER, Calif. Hundreds of illegal immigrants awaiting deportation rioted at a county-run detention center and had to be subdued with tear gas, authorities said Wednesday.
The riot Tuesday started as a fight between detainees from rival gangs and spread to the detention center's outdoor yard, said Virginia Kice, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Nearby sheriff's stations sent additional deputies to separate the detainees. The brawl was diffused "within minutes" after tear gas was used, said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. Fights among incarcerated gang members periodically break out at state jails, prisons and immigrant detention facilities, sometimes sparking riots.
The federal Department of Homeland Security contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to staff and manage the Mira Loma Detention Center in Lancaster, which holds about 900 detainees who are in the process of being deported or awaiting resolution of their cases in immigration courts.
Ten detainees were treated for injuries, including two who suffered serious head injuries. Sheriff's officials will evaluate how Mira Loma guards separate detainees based on gang affiliation, Whitmore said. About 45 detainees involved in the riot have been identified as suspected gang members and moved to other federal facilities.

How can you possibly expect the Feds to build the fence when their real intention is the creation of the North American Union?

Riot at Lancaster immigration center
&
“Mira Loma guards routinely separate detainees based on gang affiliation, and that process will be evaluated as part of the sheriff’s investigation into the riot, Whitmore said. Gang leaders, or “shot callers,” inside the facility can be placed in isolation, in different cell blocks or moved to other facilities, he said.
Already, 50 detainees involved in Tuesday’s riot have been identified as gang members and bused to other federal facilities, he said this morning. Whitmore would not say what gangs those detainees were affiliated with or which gangs were involved in the riot.
“We do the very best we can to identify, isolate and secure them in the facility and one of the reasons we have not had any incidents up there is because of that,” Whitmore said. “The big key to managing any jail is identifying an inmate’s affiliation.””[snip]

What do you think? Do you think Mexico, El Salvador, etc. agrees to keep these monsters locked up after we deport them? Are they allowed to walk freely in these detention centers knowing they are criminal gang bangers? Why aren’t they shackled? ( I can think of better remedies)
Ten detainees were treated for injuries, including two who suffered serious head injuries....
Two of them must have be attempting to think,
“We need to sit down as Americans and recognize these are God’s children as well. And they need some protection under the law; they need some of our love and compassion.”
- John McCain, St. Petersburg, Florida Nov 28, 2007
This isn’t even newsworthy. Only two gang members had head injuries.
I’ll consider it serious when deaths start occurring. Then I will urge the guards to do nothing except lock the doors tighter ... maybe throw a few weapons into the fray and see what happens.
Your tagline is priceless.
Ping!
I think an oil platform in the North Sea would be a great place to put the troublemakers.
Why is it necessary to stop the gangs fighting each other?
Can’t they be deported dead or alive?
Here are the Senators who voted against the Cornyn amendment , which would have established a permanent bar for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals looking to snag a shamnesty visa. Republicans underlined:
Shouldn't mexican gang members be more afraid of US guards than the other mexican gang?
So they kill each other --so what? I don't think we should spend one cent delving into the subtleties of Mexican gang culture than we already have; they are invaders from the outset.
I love many Mexicans, but I honestly think the next time US guards confront an in-prison Mexican gang fight, they should either crack open a cold one and leisurely watch, or have every confidence that they are legally entitled to open fire, and to keep firing until the annoyance has passed.
Yet another reason why we should build the fence and deport illegal aliens.
Felipe and his compadres are very, very busy these days.

Rafael Quintero Curiel, a member of Calderon's press office, allegedly took six or seven BlackBerrys belonging to White House staff from a table outside a room in the hotel where Mexican officials were meeting with Bush...
The U.S. Secret Service is said to have caught Quintero Curiel pocketing the devices on a surveillance video.
[...] the Secret Service caught up with him at the airport, where he "said it was purely accidental, gave [the BlackBerrys] back, claimed diplomatic immunity and left New Orleans with the Mexican delegation."

Maybe they thought it was a soccer game.
No doubt, the open borders policies of Jorge Bush have encouraged the attitude of entitlement behind this behavior.
Of the Republicans who voted against that bill, Larry Craig, Pete Domenici, and Chuck Hagel are retiring. Craig and Hagel will probably be replaced by Senators who will support this. George Voinovich and Mel Martinez may retire in 2010. If McCain is elected President, he’ll probably be succeeded by a more conservative Republican. Lindsay Graham might be defeated in the GOP primary.
