The Chicago Tribune offers a picture of the door to Bill Ayers' office at the University of Illinois, describing it as "covered with pictures, cartoons, graphics and various political paraphernalia."
I would describe the image as a Where's Waldo of lefty radicalism. There's at least three pictures of Malcolm X, a cartoon of a smiling police officer saying, "I'm going to kick your [tushie] and get away with it." A Red Star, an Amnesty International sticker, a Mumia Abu-Jamal picture, a picture of a bomb dropping on the Gaza Strip...
Does anyone know what the black and white card saying "ABU-ZAYD" is referring to?
To refresh, Obama's campaign declared after the last debate, "AYERS AND DOHRN BECAME RESPECTABLE FIXTURES OF THE MAINSTREAM IN CHICAGO." [Their caps, not mine.]
UPDATE: The mystery is solved.
A lot of readers are sending me information on Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, an Islamic theologan. But the more likely answer is found on another photo in that Tribune collection, where the caption depicts a young couple with a child between them: "Bill Ayers walks with wife, Bernardine Dohrn, and their son, Zayd Dohrn, 4, outside a federal courtroom in New York circa 1982."
Abu is Arabic for "father of."
That poor kid.
Is he a professor at the University of Chicago, or at the University of Illinois at Chicago?

IIRC, Ayers teaches at U of I-Chicago where he has attained the rank not only of full professor, but distinguished professor. His wife, Bernadine Dohrn, is at the U of Chicago Law school where she heads a center on children and family law.

Zayd and Cedric began to talk and Zayd tells Cedric that he”’”s named after Tupac Shakur the rappers uncle Zayd Shakur. Zayd Shakur was a radical black activist who was killed by the cops in the early 60”’”s and Zayd”’”s parents knew him or some black panthers that knew him. This is very important because his explains why Zayd likes or is open to the black life style or culture.

Dohrn is a graduate of the University of Chicago-both undergraduate degree and law degree. She teachings in the law school at Northwestern University. She and Ayers live in Hyde Park-the neighborhood in Chicgo where the University of Chicago is located.
