The current food shortage is going to get worse before it gets better – at least that’s the way the founder of CNN sees it.

Ted Turner was interviewed by CNBC’s Bob Pisani on the April 25 “Closing Bell.” He addressed the recent food shortages causing rationing and riots all over the globe and said it’s just a sign of things to come.

“There are a lot of different problems being caused by an ever-increasing number of people in a finite-sized world,” Turner said. “The resources of the planet just can’t keep up with the demand and I’m afraid this going to be more commonplace. I’m afraid we’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg. It’s very complicated I do want to say.”

Here we go again. The other day it was cannibalism. At least this time, it's just food riots.

So off yourself, Ted. It's the least you can do.

Yeah, and you're going to need GIANT front-end loaders to control them. And Charleton Heston is going to have to investigate the real source of the protein. Yeah, and and and and he's going to find, he's going to find SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!! Yeah. Really.

I'm Ted Turner and I live on a buffalo farm.

Will liberals like Ted blame the food riots on George W. Bush? Will the blame be with Republicans for not being compassionate enough to the starving people in the world?

I hate to agree with this character... but I think he is right on this one. And he is safe with all those buffalo burgers roaming around in Montana.

“There are a lot of different problems being caused by an ever-increasing number of liberal policies from finite-sized intellects,” Turner should have said. “The resources of the planet just can’t be used to the betterment of mankind and I’m afraid this is getting more commonplace. We’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Liberals make things very complicated... much more so than they should be.”

Its not complicated. The demand for food exceeds the available supply. Hence higher prices.

My Equity/Debt ratio is inversely proportional to the CNBC Communist/Conservative talking head ratio.........for the last 10 years it’s worked like a charm!

Oh, and if Ted Turner (or his wife Hanoi Jane) gets on CNBC, it’s a 10% Equity kicker!

I’m not sure it’s even that. As far as I can tell it’s down to corruption in Haiti, protectionism in Asia and scare headlines that would be over the top if Zombies were erupting out of the ground.

IMO there’s still loads more food than we can eat, even with the ethanol “Oil from Food” scandal.

Rolleyes.....a Commie like him should know since they are doing everything in their power to create that very senario...

Funny, I remember in the 70’s and 80’s the food lines around the block in the USSR...and Reagan using the Mujahiddeen to attack the USSR in Afghanistan...

And they tried to tell us the Cold War ended with the fall of the Soviets...right...:/

This comment from the man who personally owns more acreage than any other single owner in the USA. He keeps taking land out of food production, and then he predicts riots.
What a maroon...even before he married Hanoi Jane.

Yes it's very easy to understand the root cause as well.

Our politicians refuse to let us drill for oil or build refineries and then they compound that insanity with the demand that we burn our food for fuel instead of the oil they won't let us drill for.

Consequently, the price for both oil and food is going through the roof. What a great plan!

Ted and his pals will be sitting out the revolution/holacaust/Armageddon on their ranches in Paraguay.

Besides, most of them are old enough that they figure they aren’t going to have be around for the aftermath, anyway.
